| ‘Shazam!’ Scribe Henry Gayden To Write Sequel, With Director David F. Sandberg Expected To Return
As expected, Shazam! was the number one film at the box office last weekend. In fact, it exceeded everyone’s expectations grossing over $56.8 million for a $159 million worldwide haul. With the superhero film starring Zachary Levi and Mark Strong reaching key benchmarks, it looks like WB wants to keep that momentum going by bringing back the film’s first writer Henry Gayden. Additionally, director David F. Sandberg and producer Peter Safran are both likely to return as well. More on the report below.

Release Date: April 5, 2019 The DCEU isn’t the dark and brooding cinematic superhero universe that you first knew when it was launched way back in 2013. Since then it has gone through a series of improvements that have helped build it to become a much better superhero cinematic universe. And now director David F. Sandberg‘s Shazam! starring Asher Angel and Zachary Levi as Billy Batson and the title character, will continue the momentum that was first started by Wonder Woman and then continued with Aquaman. See, Wonder Woman has this incredible message about female empowerment, while Aquaman surges by centering on a person accepting the life of coming from two different worlds. Each of these films had their own distinct voice while also being superhero films. As for Shazam!, audiences will see a coming of age superhero film that is not only a great origins story but speaks about the importance of foster families. My full review below.

| New Trailer/TV Spot For DC’s ‘Shazam!’ Released
Warner Bros. Pictures released a short new trailer for the latest DC Films title Shazam! last night. Or maybe it’s a long TV spot. They don’t really specify what exactly it is. The new preview is longer than the usual 15 to 30-second TV spot at just under a minute in length, but shorter than most trailers. But this is Shazam! we’re talking about. The teaser trailer we saw back in July was longer than most official trailers at nearly three minutes. So this one is doing its own thing at this point, and we’re just along for the ride. You can find the video below along with a synopsis.
