As expected, Shazam! was the number one film at the box office last weekend. In fact, it exceeded everyone’s expectations grossing over $56.8 million for a $159 million worldwide haul.
With the superhero film starring Zachary Levi and Mark Strong reaching key benchmarks, it looks like WB wants to keep that momentum going by bringing back the film’s first writer Henry Gayden. Additionally, director David F. Sandberg and producer Peter Safran are both likely to return as well. More on the report below.

The DCEU is heading in a new direction. And it could be one that improves the franchise as a whole.
With Shazam! nearing its release, Warner Bros. has revealed the newest trailer for the thundering hero. And judging by the looks of things, it will be a lot of fun. Something the DCEU wasn’t really known for, for quite some time. Check out the latest trailer below.

WB’s New DCEU Slate Won’t Be As Interconnected As It Once Was
![SHAZAM! Header Image SHAZAM! Header Image](https://i0.wp.com/www.geeksofdoom.com/GoD/img/2018/07/shazam-header-photo-530x281.jpg?resize=530%2C281&ssl=1)
Things for Warner Bros.’ DCEU are looking a lot brighter. Following the successes of films like Wonder Woman and Aquaman, the studio is looking to release more character-driven films rather than episodic pieces that lead up to a larger ensemble effort. It’s an approach they likely should have taken right from the start instead of trying to mimic Marvel’s highly successfully cinematic universe. As such, WB will continue forward with these standalone efforts.
Warner Bros. chief executive Kevin Tsujihara confirmed that this will be the studios’ approach to DCEU films for the foreseeable future. More on the report here below.

![Birds Of Prey Image 18 Birds Of Prey Image 18](https://i0.wp.com/www.geeksofdoom.com/GoD/img/2019/01/birds-of-prey-image-18-530x221.png?resize=530%2C221&ssl=1)
It looks like we are getting our first cheeky sneaky peeky look at Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) – yes, that’s the actual title of the film starring Margot Robbie, who is reprising her role as Harley Quinn.
Although the film is still more than a year away from its release, a teaser – if you can call it that – showing the entire cast in full costume, has been revealed. If anything, it looks more like a fun music video with heroes and villains letting loose or standing in heroic or villainous poses. Check out the full teaser below.

![Shazam! Header Image Shazam! Header Image](https://i0.wp.com/www.geeksofdoom.com/GoD/img/2019/01/shazam-header-dc-wb-530x312.jpg?resize=530%2C312&ssl=1)
Warner Bros. Pictures released a short new trailer for the latest DC Films title Shazam! last night. Or maybe it’s a long TV spot. They don’t really specify what exactly it is.
The new preview is longer than the usual 15 to 30-second TV spot at just under a minute in length, but shorter than most trailers. But this is Shazam! we’re talking about. The teaser trailer we saw back in July was longer than most official trailers at nearly three minutes. So this one is doing its own thing at this point, and we’re just along for the ride.
You can find the video below along with a synopsis.
