Back in May, it was announced that Roberto Orci would be directing Star Trek 3 and the Transformers writer even dropped off as executive producer for the Power Rangers movie to focus on the Trek sequel.

Now, Deadline is reporting that Orci, who was to pick up where franchise director J.J. Abrams left off (when he moved on to Star Wars: The Force Awakens), will no longer be directing the third Star Trek movie, but he will stay on as producer.

The root of Edgar Wright and Marvel Studios parting ways was creative differences. Long before the MCU launched into the successful franchise that it is today, Wright was hard at work on his Ant-Man script. But once Marvel figured out where it would fit in their cinematic universe, Wright felt that his hard work would be undone. Of course the idea of Wright directing a film like Ant-Man excited fans, and once he left, it upset them. Most wanted to point the blame at Marvel.

The truth of it all probably won’t come out until after the film’s release, or maybe when someone writes an in-depth piece on the matter, but Evangeline Lilly is shedding some light on the matter. In an interview with Buzzfeed, she explains how she nearly left the project after Wright’s departure, but also what made her stay, and how the rewrites from Adam McKay actually made the film fit into the universe more than the original written by Wright and Joe Cornish. It’s tradition for many of us to post our top films of the year at this time. Of course the same could be said for filmmakers, actors, writers, and others. And now we are getting our very first look at the year’s best from Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz director Edgar Wright. The director has been known to release his thoughts on the best in film, and this year is no different. What is a bit different is his situation. Wright has been caught up in a bit of controversy with Disney and Marvel parting ways with him over creative differences on Ant-Man. So while we wait to hear what his next project will be, he has released his top ten of the year.

Fan-favorite director Edgar Wright (Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz) dropped a preview of one of his next projects via his Twitter feed with a quick preview of the video for Pharrell Williams‘ single “Gust of Wind.”

“Gust of Wind” will be the fourth single of off Williams’ album GIRL. The song features the French electronic duo Daft Punk, who Williams worked with in the past on the hit single “Get Lucky.” Those are Daft Punk’s iconic helmets that Pharrell is approaching in the video.

Wright is a director with a large cult following and it’s good to see him at work after ending his involvement with Marvel’s Ant-Man. I know lots of people are patiently waiting for his next film, and this should serve as something to tide them over. Check out the video below.

Simon Pegg and Nick Frost are all set to reprise their Shaun of the Dead roles, but the good news doesn’t end there.

After starring together in the Three Flavours Cornetto trilogy (Shaun, Hot Fuzz, The World’s End) for director Edgar Wright, it was wondered if and when the trio would work together again. Pegg has now confirmed that that time is now approaching, though the project is still in the early stages.
