Lily James as Disneys Cinderella (2015)

Edgar Wright may no longer be directing Ant-Man, but his next project is right in his wheelhouse. Baby Driver centers on a getaway driver (Ansel Elgrot) who relies on his own personal rock-and-roll soundtrack to perform jobs. But he is coerced into working for a mob boss, who threatens to destroy everything the driver holds dear, which includes the love of his life. The film is being described as “the ultimate rock-and-roll car chase film.”

Now reports are that the driver’s love interest has been cast. Cinderella star Lily James now will play alongside Elgort. THR has the film’s updated synopsis.

More on that below.

Joss Whedon With Elizabeth Olsen and Jeremy Renner On The Set Of Avengers: Age Of Ultron

Marvel Studios’ Ant-Man has seen its fair share of problems. Edgar Wright dropped out at the last minute because of a major script overhaul; the studio eventually settled on Peyton Reed to replace him as director; Adam McKay and star Paul Rudd did rewrites to Wright’s script. No one will really know what Wright’s version of the movie would have looked like had he stayed on to direct, and in fact there are only a few people who have seen the actual script.

Joss Whedon is one of those people. The Avengers: Age of Ultron director recently spoke about Ant-Man, and praised Wright’s script calling it one of the best that Marvel has ever had. Hit the jump for more.

Paul Rudd as Scott Lang/Ant-Man in Marvel Studio's Ant-Man

Marvel Studios has released the first full theatrical trailer for their latest solo comic book adventure, Ant-Man. You can check it out here below.

The teaser trailer, released in January, leaned heavily on setting up the story basics. The latest delivers on the action and visual effects fronts and then some, with Paul Rudd looking mighty badass as the titular incredible shrinking superhero as he encounters insects of an unusual size and takes on Corey Stoll‘s villainous Darren Cross when the latter suits up as Yellowjacket. We also get a sense of the on-screen relationship between Hope Van Dyne (Evangeline Lilly) and Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) and the stakes involved in their recruiting thief Scott Lang (Rudd) for their battle against Cross.

SDCC 2013: Divergent panel: Ansel Elgort

After his highly public departure from Marvel’s Ant-Man, Edgar Wright is moving on to other things, including an original piece called Baby Driver. Written and directed by the Shaun Of The Dead filmmaker, the new film, which has been picked up for distribution by Sony for TriStar, will combine everything we love about Wright’s style: action, comedy, music, and more.

The search is on now as to who will take the lead role of a “talented, young getaway driver” in Baby Driver, a flick that’s being described as “the ultimate rock-and-roll car chase film.”

Star Trek Into Darkness: Spock and Kirk

Ten days ago, it was announced that Roberto Orci would not be making his directorial debut on the tentatively-titled Star Trek 3, thus endangering any hope that the movie would be ready for release in time for the franchise’s 50th anniversary in 2016. Sources close to the production indicated that Paramount Pictures was hoping to snag Edgar Wright, who famously departed Marvel Studios’ long-in-development Ant-Man back in May and was later replaced by Peyton Reed, to replace the inexperienced Orci in the director’s chair on what looks to be an important motion picture on several levels.

It looks as if any hope of retaining the services of the Shaun of the Dead/The World’s End filmmaker has proven to be a pipe dream because a promising shortlist of potential directors for Star Trek 3 has been leaked and Wright’s name is not among them. According to Mike Fleming Jr. at Deadline, Paramount has narrowed their selection of possible directorial pinch hitters to Rupert Wyatt, Duncan Jones, Daniel Espinosa, Justin Lin, and Morten Tyldum.
