Star Trek/Green Lantern: The Spectrum War banner

I don’t know why I never thought of a Star Trek and Green Lantern crossover before, but it makes a lot of sense when you think about it. IDW Publishing, DC Comics, and CBS Consumer Products made the announcement this weekend at WonderCon 2015 that they are teaming up to release Star Trek/Green Lantern: The Spectrum War this July. The six-issue mini-series will be written by Mike Johnson with art by Angel Hernandez.

The Spectrum War will feature Hal Jordan and the Green Lantern Corps going into the world of Star Trek‘s 23rd Century, joining forces with the Federation after some of the Federation’s greatest enemies find themselves in possession of some Power Rings.

Comic Review: The Colonized #3

The Colonized #3The Colonized #3
Written by Chris Ryall
Art by Drew Moss
Covers by Nelson Daniel, Jay Fotos, Gabriel Rodriguez, Dave Sim
IDW Publishing
Publication Date: June 5, 2013
Cover Price: $3.99

The Colonized is essentially a Zombies Versus Aliens yarn, with humans caught in the middle. Or, more accurately, it’s a Zombies Versus Humans story with aliens caught in the middle. Whatever the case, the third chapter of the new IDW series finally grabs plot fundamentals and puts them to use in a tale that sends up and borderline-parodies the stereotypes of 1950’s horror and sci-fi movies.

Set in the rural remote town of Carbon Falls in Montana, the humans are essentially a community of separatist militiamen that wish for zero interference from the Feds, though the focus of their community is (somewhat ironically) on sustainability and all-things-green. A group of aliens launch their plan to make contact with humanity, though their efforts are messed up by the coincidental event of the dead rising from the graves to feast on the living.

Locke and Key: Omega #5Locke & Key: Omega #5
Written by Joe Hill
Art by Gabriel Rodriguez
Colors by Jay Fotos
Letters by Robbie Robbins
Covers by Gabriel Rodriguez, Shane Leonard
IDW Publishing
Release Date: June 5, 2013
Cover Price: $3.99

There are comic books out there that I read strictly because the art is just so fantastic it must be seen to be believed. There are also those that I read because the story is so riveting or the writing is so phenomenal. Well, Locke & Key: Omega #5 is firmly housed in both those categories. I cannot stress enough how awesome this entire series has been. From the very first comic to this current issue, nothing has ever changed my initial opinion of “WOW!”

First and foremost is Joe Hill, author extraordinaire. Brilliant and twisted are the first two words that come to mind when I think of him. Not in an over-the-top horrific way, but in a subtle, never-saw-it-coming kind of way. His characters are all so richly developed and so very damaged in one sense or another. Tragedy is commonplace and almost to be expected with the Locke family (the main protagonists of this series), they’ve seen so much of it and it never seems to let up. And just as in real life, the characters grow stronger and closer throughout most of it…really instilling the reader with the feeling that this family intends to endure and conquer whatever they come up against.

Locke & Key: Alpha Banner

There’s been a bit of a change in regards to the release for the end of quite possibly the best series currently being released, Locke & Key. The final miniseries, which was originally scheduled top run six issues, will now come to an end in five issues. However, don’t think that you’re getting the short end of the stick, as the series will now close in an two-issue miniseries, titled Locke & Key: Alpha. The two issues will come in at 48 pages each, and will see release starting in August, 2013.

GoD List Banner

Each and every week “No! No! No!” MK2Fac3 and “Lord Mackleroy” Henchman21 read a lot of comics. Seriously you guys, a lot of comics. Maybe too many comics. I mean, it is possible”¦ theoretically. They look forward to some more than others, I mean, who doesn’t? So, let’s take a look into the depths of their pull lists, grab some comics, and we’ll let YOU know what the top books to look forward to are for the week of August 29, 2012. Single issues and trades, they’re all here.

While off at wrestling bootcamp, I learned a many things. I learned the art of the double turn, how to properly hip toss my opponents, while transitioning into the “No Lock.” Yes, I learned a lot of things, but the one think I didn’t learn was how to manage my time properly. Still working on that, but until then, let’s talk about some comic books since that’s what you’re all here for. Ladies and gentlemen, this ain’t ballet! This… is… THE GoD LIST!!!
