Beauty and The Beast header

With Emma Watson and Dan Stevens prepared to break the bank this weekend starring in the new live-action adaptation of Beauty and the Beast, it only makes sense for the gang at Screen Junkies to use the original 1991 classic for their Honest Trailers selection this week.

Honest Trailers Moana

It’s always great when the gang at Screen Junkies takes on Disney films in their Honest Trailers series. Not only do we get quality comedy, but Weird Al-style parodies of classic Disney songs. This time, it’s the newest Disney animated film with strong female characters, no forced romance, and a celebration of Polynesian culture… Lilo and Stitch… wait no… Moana. Narrator Jon Bailey is hilarious as usual, and since the songs are literally implanted in my head at this point, I’m sure this HT will do me no favors.

Honest Trailers Oscars 2017

It’s been awhile since I’ve reviewed an Honest Trailer, but it is Oscar season and the gang at Screen Junkies set out to tackle the 9 Best Picture nominees. Along with the films, narrator Jon Bailey takes aim at Hollywood and the President in this latest edition. With so many films nominated, let’s get right to it.

Honest Trailers The Flash Header

After taking a break for a few weeks with the Honest Trailers, I am back and right on time, as Screen Junkies just released one of The CW’s The Flash the afternoon before the Season 3 premiere. The Flash is part of DC’s TV universe along with Supergirl, Arrow, and Legends of Tomorrow, and tonight starts the ultra popular “Flashpoint” story arc, where Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) traveled back in time to save his mother, and inadvertently altered the timeline so that he is NOT The Flash. So strap in as the Screen Junkies prep you for season 3 with an HT recap of the first two seasons.

Batman: The Killing Joke Header

If you’ve seen the new animated film, Batman: The Killing Joke, you know that somehow, someway, despite all the fan rage against the DCEU films, they actually managed to mess up the un-mess-up-able. Alan Moore wrote Batman: The Killing Joke in 1988, and it instantly became the most talked about and adored comics maybe of all time. It is the quintessential Batman & Joker story, featuring the Joker committing awful acts in an effort to prove to Batman that all it takes is one really bad day to make a good man go crazy. These include shooting and paralyzing Barbara Gordon, as well as the extended torture of her father. DC animated movies have long been the standard in comic animation, so when critics and fans both slammed this adaptation, it became an easy target for the gang at Screen Junkies to give it the Honest Trailers treatment.

Honest Trailers Emmys

Honest Trailers was nominated for an Emmy! Yes, one of those awards… for quality television… just smile and nod and don’t ruin it for them. To celebrate their first Emmy nomination, (for Outstanding Short Form Variety Series), the gang at Screen Junkies have tackled the Best Drama and Best Comedy Series categories for an all inclusive Emmy-centric special edition of Honest Trailers. Even narrator Jon Bailey is surprised and excited about the nomination, though he does question making fun of the other nominees right before the show…

Honest Trailers Watchmen

Before watching characters from Zack Snyder’s DC Cinematic Universe have cameos in Suicide Squad this week, let’s revisit one of his earlier works. Before he turned the beloved comic The Dark Knight Returns into the universally polarizing Batman v. Superman, he turned the MOST beloved comic all time into… a universally polarizing movie. This week, Screen Junkies tackles Snyder’s 2009 adaptation of the Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons classic, Watchmen, and gives it the Honest Trailers treatment.

Honest Trailers Bourne

A few days late recovering from San Diego Comic-Con, the gang at Screen Junkies are back to work, and this week’s Honest Trailer is a package deal, three for one, all Bourne all the time! Prepping for the release of the new film Jason Bourne, in which Matt Damon returns to the character he first played more than a decade ago, narrator Jon Bailey and the SJ crew squeeze three kickass action flicks into one kickass 5-minute Honest Trailer. It covers Bourne Identity (2002), Bourne Supremacy (2004), and Bourne Ultimatum (2007)… sorry Jeremy Renner, but Bourne Legacy (2012) just didn’t cut it.

Honest Trailer Batman v Superman

We’ve all been waiting for this one! To prep for the release of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice in theaters months ago the gang at Screen Junkies did Honest Trailers for Tim Burton’s 1989 Batman and Superman directed by Richard Donner in 1978. Now the waiting is finally over as today, to celebrate the release of the Batman v Superman extended cut on Blu-ray, we finally get the BvS Honest Trailer. I wonder if fan response will be as divided as it was for the actual movie… nah, that’s literally impossible.

Check out the Honest Trailer below.

Ghostbusters II logo

Before we get started here, let it be known that I love Ghostbusters II and consider it one of my favorite comedy sequels. That is NOT to be confused with comparing it to the original, because that’s blasphemy. With the reboot of Ghostbusters (aka the most pre-hated movie of 2016) coming to theaters Friday, the gang at Screen Junkies decided to go back to the first attempt to cash in on the greatness of the original 1984 classic with a new addition to their Honest Trailers series.

Check out here below the Honest Trailer for 1989’s Ghostbusters II, which strives to make the point that this sequel already ruined your childhood (not mine, though!).
