It’s time for the first Honest Trailer of 2016… woohoo!!! Normally, I try to avoid the HTs if I haven’t seen the film yet, but in this case the actual trailer gave enough of the movie away, that I feel totally comfortable reviewing Screen Junkies’ faux trailer for Ridley Scott’s and Matt Damon’s return to outer space: The Martian.

Whenever a conversation arises about “best movie ever,” there is usually a massive debate. You get your Citizen Kane fans, your Godfather followers, and some usual suspects who prefer Casablanca. But when the discussion narrows to “best action movie ever” there is usually little debate. The overwhelming favorite is… Die Hard. But more than that, it may also be the best Christmas movie of all time! And it’s within this context that my personal choice for Greatest Action Movie Ever, gets the final Honest Trailer of 2015.

The time for the force to awaken is almost here. Many have already seen screenings. Many are lining up for pre-shows and midnight openings, and tomorrow is the day the world has waited for… December 18th, 2015… Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens. Fans have been watching and re-watching the original classics, annnnnnd the less than classic prequels in preparation for J.J. Abrams potentially record breaking new entry in the saga. I hated Minions. I related that movie theater experience to Aqua Teen Hunger Force. When you take something that was meant to be seen in small doses, and expand it to take up 80-90 minutes… it just DOESN’T work. Screen Junkies dedicated their Tuesday afternoon Honest Trailer to absolutely trashing what is definitely the biggest financially successful piece of crap of 2015… Minions.

So unless you’ve been living under a rock all year, you’ve heard about or bore witness to the disaster that was Fantastic Four (aka Fant4stic); a movie so bad it registered a whopping 9% on Rotten Tomatoes, and got its director basically blacklisted from Hollywood. This is what Honest Trailers were made for! Screen Junkies narrator Jon Bailey even posts the career-ruining tweet in the introduction.
