| Marvel’s ‘Iron Fist’ Netflix Series Hires ‘Dexter’ Alum As Showrunner
So far, Netflix and Marvel are two for two in terms of the success of their shows centering on the heroes of Hell’s Kitchen. Daredevil is already in the midst of production on its second season, while the recently launched Jessica Jones has been met with critical acclaim – though the expected start date for season two is very unclear. Now, with Luke Cage in production for its first season, Marvel and Netflix have just confirmed the showrunner for the mysterious Iron Fist series. With rumors that the TV series wasn’t working, and that the two studios may opt to turn Iron Fist into a film, something needed to be done in order to ease some of those fears before even more wild rumors started to spread. And it seems that is happening, as there is a new report that says that Dexter and Six Feet Under alum Scott Buck has been hired to to serve as showrunner on Iron Fist. More on the story below.

| Marvel To Film Netflix’s ‘Defender’ Series In New York
It’s always exciting to see a film or TV series filmed on location instead of behind a green or blue screen. But when filming in prime locations like New York or Los Angeles, securing closed sets with the necessary permits can be problematic. Despite some of the red tape, Netflix’s upcoming Marvel series based on the heroes of Hell’s Kitchen: DareDevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and Defenders will film all 60 episodes for the five series on location in New York. Governor Andrew M. Cuomo, The Walt Disney Company, Marvel, and Netflix Inc. made the announcement today. According to the press release multi-million dollar incentive program was created to lure Marvel Studios to shoot in New York – seeing as most of the characters are based in the city this makes sense. Hit the jump to see why this is a good thing for both Marvel Studios and the city of New York.

| Marvel Teams With NetFlix For 4 Superhero Shows Culminating To ‘The Defenders’
Some heroes aren’t made for the big screen. But that isn’t necessarily a bad thing. Look at how well Arrow is doing, and let’s not forget that ABC’s Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. has finally found its stride. Now Marvel looks to bring four more lesser-known heroes to life, one of which had a short cinematic life-expectancy, to the small screen. But it won’t be through broadcast or cable TV; instead, they are teaming up with NetFlix. A new deal that was just announced today will launch series for Daredevil, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and Jessica Jones. Each hero will receive a respective 13-episode order, which will all culminate to a miniseries featuring the heroes teaming up to form the Hell’s Kitchen super group, The Defenders. Basically, it’s the NetFlix version of The Avengers.
