Cliff Curtis

There’s a bunch of Avatar sequels on the way. Eventually. We’ve been hearing about a sequel to Aliens and Terminator 2: Judgment Day director James Cameron‘s record-smasher for years, but the second movie has been delayed multiple times.

Creeping up on a decade since the original was released, the sequels are starting to take shape once again. Last month, release dates for the four sequels were set again, with the first now scheduled for release in 2020—11 years after the original was released. And now a new actor has joined the cast. Director James Cameron spoke to The Sun about teaming up with Israeli-Canadian journalist Simcha Jacobovici on a documentary to see if the lost city of Atlantis exists. During the interview, the subject of Avatar 2 came up, and that’s when Cameron gave the disappointing news.

James Cameron's Aliens the Alien sequel

James Cameron took Ridley Scott‘s place as the director of the Alien sequel, Aliens. The follow-up stepped away from the sci-fi horror, and was warped into an action thriller. The series stuck with that genre for the next two sequels before reverting back to where it started with the tepid prequel, Prometheus. The franchise will try to reestablish its sci-fi horror credibility with Alien: Covenant – check out the trailer here below. While some may be excited for what’s to come, there’s one director who isn’t.

Cameron isn’t too happy with the current state of the Alien franchise and believes that the series should not have carried on after his film. But he still believes there is a chance the franchise can be saved. Check out what he said here below.
