Marvel's Jessica Jones

Disney/Marvel is not wasting any time finding writers to pen the scripts for the four superhero series that will air exclusively on Netflix. Yesterday we reported that Cabin In The Woods writer/director Drew Goddard would pen DareDevil. Goddard had worked on the Cabin script with Joss Whedon, so the hiring seemed fitting.

Now it is being reported that Dexter (up until season 4) and all of the Twilight film adaptations writer Melissa Rosenberg will pen Marvel’s Jessica Jones for Netflix.

Marvel And NetFlix Team Up For DareDevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist MiniSeries

Some heroes aren’t made for the big screen. But that isn’t necessarily a bad thing. Look at how well Arrow is doing, and let’s not forget that ABC’s Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. has finally found its stride. Now Marvel looks to bring four more lesser-known heroes to life, one of which had a short cinematic life-expectancy, to the small screen. But it won’t be through broadcast or cable TV; instead, they are teaming up with NetFlix.

A new deal that was just announced today will launch series for Daredevil, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and Jessica Jones. Each hero will receive a respective 13-episode order, which will all culminate to a miniseries featuring the heroes teaming up to form the Hell’s Kitchen super group, The Defenders. Basically, it’s the NetFlix version of The Avengers.

AliasABC has already revealed plans for a new Incredible Hulk TV show, as well as a Cloak and Dagger series (for ABC Family), and now they have announce the third series planned to run on the network.

The series will be AKA Jessica Jones, based on the Marvel comics series Alias. Alias was written by Brian Michael Bendis and featured art by Michael Gaydos. The show will be written and executive produced by Melissa Rosenberg, screenwriter for the Twilight movies, as well as a former executive producer on Dexter. Joining her as executive producers will be Marvel TV Head Jeph Loeb, Marvel Chief Creative Officer Joe Quesada, and Marvel Worldwide’s Alan Fine. Bendis will help out the show as a consultant, and one can only hope that that he’s tasked with writing for the show (unless, we lose him to TV as we lost Brian K. Vaughn to Lost, in which case they should keep him away from the writer’s room).
