Twenty years ago a little movie called Jurassic Park roared its way into theaters, cinematic history, and of course, your electrified eyes. Maybe you’ve heard of it. Today that same movie finds its way back into theaters, this time with an added third dimension.

The original Jurassic Park did something you might not have realized: it introduced we the uneducated to the vicious creatures that were velociraptors. Growing up, most of us had our own dinosaur kick and knew the all-stars—tyrannosaurus rex, triceratops, brontosaurus, and so on—but it was JP that made us all aware of raptors and put the animal up there with the big boys.

Now comes word that Jurassic Park IV, which is currently scheduled to hit theaters next June, will attempt to recreate that magic with the introduction of a new dinosaur.

With the re-release of the original Jurassic Park in 3D just around the corner and a release date set for the long-rumored Jurassic Park IV set for next summer, it was only a matter of time before we started hearing about a director and castings…or that the project was dead.

Well good news, everyone! A director has been chosen and announced, and it’s a name you may or may not be familiar with. According to reports, Colin Trevorrow has signed on to direct the movie.

With Jurassic Park IV currently scheduled for a June of 2014 release date, fans should be catching a spell of dinosaur fever again in the near future.

But if you cannot wait that long, it’s worth reminding everyone that the original Jurassic Park is being re-released in theaters next month with a 3D makeover. We’ve already seen a trailer for the re-release, and now comes a pair of TV spots to help build excitement for what was and will always be one of the best movie experiences ever created.
