Who do you call if the world’s greatest heroes go bad? That’s the question that Director Amanda Waller poses to Colonel Steve Trevor in the first few pages of Justice League Of America, Volume 1: World’s Most Dangerous. Deciding to build a response team is easy enough, but filling the roster is something far more difficult.

Kicking things off, they start the list off with Hawkman (one of my favorite of the DC Comics bunch) who is known for his brutality as much as for his moral code. The next addition is Katana, whose sword is far more than just steel. Next up they bring in Vibe, a hero that we haven’t heard about in decades (this version is a reboot, not the original one from yesteryear). Curiously, Waller insists adding Stargirl and her powerful Cosmic Staff, though not quite in the capacity you might think. The true powerhouse of this team is the always adaptable Martian Manhunter, though getting him on the team was more than a little work. To keep things balanced, Waller also has the new Green Lantern and Green Arrow on the team roster. But Trevor has an addition of his own, the always dangerous Catwoman. Not to be a public member of the team, she is intended for the behind the scenes and under the table jobs that pop up.

Each and every week, I, “Lawful Neutral” Henchman21 read a lot of comics. Seriously you guys, a lot of comics. Maybe too many comics. I mean, it is possible”¦ theoretically. Naturally, I look forward to some more than others. I mean, who doesn’t? So, let’s take a look into the depths of my pull list, grab some comics, and I’ll let YOU know what the top books to look forward to are for the week of February 20, 2012. Single issues and trades, they’re all here.

It is a big week this time and I’m making up for taking last week off. Hey, I get vacations from time to time, but there are just too many books to talk about. We’ve got a couple of high profile first issues, a sad farewell to a classic series, a new issue for my favorite series currently running, and some other stuff. Let’s not waste anymore time, it’s GoD List time!

Justice League of America #55 continues the “Reign of Doomsday” story begun in this year’s Steel #1 and Outsiders #37. It also continues the Justice League’s battle with Eclipso.

Part of the team is at the Emerald City on the dark side of the Moon visiting Alan Scott, the original Green Lantern. Scott has been seriously injured and his daughter, Jade, is at his bedside. Wonder Girl and other Justice Leaguers are preparing to do battle with Eclipso. Out in space, Batman (Dick Grayson) and Supergirl are attacked by Doomsday while investigating the ruins of New Krypton. Supergirl is in her “Dark Supergirl” mode and wearing a black outfit. The battle also involves the Alpha Lantern Boodika, Starman, and Blue Lantern Saint Walker. It’s another brutal, violent battle with a shock ending. Also, Eclipso claims the mind of another Justice Leaguer at the conclusion of that battle.

One of the better pieces of news this year was the fact that the Justice League of America movie had been dropped to the backburner at DC. Sadly, it looks like they’ve decided to put it, as well as director George Miller, back on the frontburner (or whatever).

The news is buried in an article in the Herald Sun, a newspaper down my way of the world, that brings with it no good news whatsoever for fans of well made movies. Entitled “Megan Gale stunned Oscar director George Miller,” the story is about how supermodel turned wannabe-actress Megan Gale won George Miller over in her auditions for the role of Wonder Woman.
