| ‘Star Trek’ Legend Leonard Nimoy Hospitalized For Chest Pains
Leonard Nimoy, the legendary Star Trek actor known for bringing the Vulcan Mr. Spock to the big and small screens, was hospitalized last Thursday with severe chest pains, TMZ reports. TMZ discovered on Monday that Nimoy was rushed to UCLA Medical Center after a 911 call on Thursday, February 19, 2015, and that paramedics took him to the hospital because they didn’t want to take any chances with the ailing actor, who has been in and out of hospitals several times in the last few months. The 83-year-old actor revealed last year that he was suffering from COPD, a progressive lung disease that affects one’s ability to breathe, and beseeched the public to quit smoking, the habit in which he said caused his illness.

| ‘Star Trek’ Star Leonard Nimoy Reveals He Has Lung Disease
Leonard Nimoy, the actor known to millions of people around the world for playing Mr. Spock in Star Trek, has revealed that he has lung disease. The actor revealed that he has COPD in a post to his official Twitter account on January 29th, 2014, where he also urged his followers to quit smoking. Nimoy, who was a cast member of the original Star Trek television series and movies, as well as the first installment of JJ Abrams’ cinematic reboot, further amplified his statement in another tweet 8 days later on February 6, 2014: “Smokers, please understand. If you quit after you’re diagnosed with lung damage it’s too late. Grandpa says learn my lesson. Quit now.”

Release Date: November 19, 2013 Star Trek: The Next Generation – Season 5, which includes all 26 episodes of the season, along with bonus features, is out for the first time on Blu-ray this week. As with previous season Blu-ray releases for the series, Paramount is also offering up an additional separately-sold Blu-ray spotlight from the season, this time for the two-part episode, “Unification.” Titled Star Trek: The Next Generation – Unification, this Blu-ray offering includes both parts of “Unification” edited together as one 90-minute episode, along with full-length audio commentary, an exclusive deleted scene, an exclusive documentary on the two-part episode, and TV promos housed in a cardboard slipcover that opens up to reveal the U.S.S. Enterprise and some of the characters from the episode. “Unification” was a two-episode storyline that aired near the beginning of Season 5 of Star Trek: The Next Generation and it has the distinction of being the first TNG episode that aired after the 1991 death of Star Trek creator Gene Roddenberry, who also created and served as executive producer for this spin-off. So, there was a lot of emotions behind this one at the time.

Earlier this month, Ian McKellen officiated at Patrick Stewart‘s wedding; a few days later, the X-Men co-stars took to the streets of New York City posing at Times Square with Elmo, as well as together at the Empire State Building and also with a pile of good ol’ fashion street trash. This weekend, the duo met up with Star Trek actor Leonard Nimoy for a photo op in Coney Island in Brooklyn, NY, which is pretty much right in my backyard.
