| Taylor Lautner Dumps ‘Max Steel’ To Be With ‘Stretch Armstrong’
We all know that Taylor Lautner has been Mr. Popular since Twilight and The Twilight Saga: New Moon have hit theaters. Job offers and casting announcements have come often, including for roles in teen superhero project Max Steel, a possible remake of Vision Quest, and the latest announcement that he would become Stretch Armstrong in the new toy-turned-movie project. Along with other films like Abduction, Cancun, and of course The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn, it appears this onslaught of jobs was just a little too much for the 18-year-old actor, and he has decided to step away from the Max Steel role. Lautner also walked away from a film called Northern Lights recently as well.

Universal Pictures is making some big moves with two upcoming titles based on toys by Hasbro: Stretch Armstrong and Battleship. The biggest announcement comes in the form of Taylor Lautner, star of The Twilight Saga, who has yet again been cast as a superhero of sorts with incredible abilities: Stretch Armstrong. Just in the past few months, we’ve discovered that Lautner was being cast in the title role of teen hero flick, Max Steel, and also that he might be showing up in the not-so-superhero-based remake of 1985’s Vision Quest. Aside from this casting announcement and the shocking reveal that the movie will be in 3D, not much has been said of the Stretch Armstrong movie. It, like so many other toy-based movie projects, was simply announced and then ventured off to do whatever it has been doing. All we do know is that Steve Oedekerk (Bruce Almighty, Kung-Pow) has written the screenplay, and that mega-producer Brian Grazer is one of the names behind the production.

| ‘The Twilight Saga’ Star Taylor Lautner May Also Star In A ‘Vision Quest’ Remake |
 |

Not too long ago it was reported that Taylor Lautner, star of Twilight and The Twilight Saga: New Moon, had been cast as the lead in Paramount’s planned teen action flick Max Steel (Read: Resident “˜Twilight’ Wolf Pup Taylor Lautner To Become “˜Max Steel’). It appears now that the 17-year-old actor didn’t stop there: E! Online is reporting that Lautner is now also in some talks to take on the lead in a remake of 1985’s Vision Quest. The original Vision Quest told the story of a mediocre high school wrestler (played by Matthew Modine) who decides that he needs to do something that people will remember, which turns out to be beating the undefeated best wrestler in the entire state. The goal is a seemingly impossible one, and is even hard due to his need to drop down two weight classes to pull it off. Things also get a little complicated on this quest of his, when his parents take in a much more mature 21-year-old drifter (Linda Fiorentino), who he falls in love with.

| Resident ‘Twilight’ Wolf Pup Taylor Lautner To Become ‘Max Steel’ |
 |

A report via the LA Times was floating around the internet yesterday that Twilight and The Twilight Saga: New Moon star Taylor Lautner was being weighed as an option to star in Paramount’s superhero teenager property, Max Steel. This didn’t take long to develop into a factual story as Deadline Hollywood was able to confirm with Paramount that they had indeed cast the 17-year-old Lautner for the lead. Max Steel originated as a CG-animated series that debuted in 2001 and went on to become an internationally popular toy line for Mattel, though it is not so well-known here in the states. And though it’s not the Transformers and G.I. Joe-level title that’s already making Paramount massive amounts of money, the studio is hoping that Lautner will rake in the majority of the planet’s female population and a strong percentage of the male population — for whatever reason might snag them. Steel tells the story of a 19-year-old X-Games-type athlete who is badly injured in an attack that sees millions of microscopic nanomachines known as Nano Tech Max infest his body and die, which in-turn eventually kills him. In order to save him, he is subjected to a heavy amount of special energy that revives the machines, saves his life, and gives him superhuman abilities.
