Jonah Hex movie posterJonah Hex– *
Directed by Jimmy Hayward
Starring Josh Brolin, Megan Fox, John Malkovich
Release date: June 18, 2010

The bloodlust gains infinitely as the comic book adaptation of Jonah Hex expands to its inevitable conclusion. Moral values, social codes, or respect are all tossed out the window because director Jimmy Hayward doesn’t think it necessary to shed light on things that aren’t so aggressive. Violent films work when morality and humanity are at stake and when they are emphasized and demonstrated thoroughly (see No Country for Old Men and The Proposition). In Jonah Hex all of that is obsolete, making it a picture obsessed with intolerable cruelty, single mindedness, and unfathomable new-aged weaponry. Western films made their living on respectable themes and characters that showcased value and more than a one-track mind. This neo-neo western shows extreme contempt for all of that, making the splendor of the western even more distant from the public as it already is. Younger folk have a better opportunity of beholding the exhilaration and immersing themselves deeply into the atmosphere of the Wild West when they turn on their video game consoles and insert Red Dead Redemption.

Director Hayward, whose body of work only contains the animated Horton Hears a Who, makes the first botch as he puts his film in considerable jeopardy when he tries to encompass and explain the life of Jonah Hex (Josh Brolin) in a rushed manner that is displayed in comic-book animation. But this is ill-conceived as far as plot is concerned. If this quick montage would have been shown in its fullness the entire film would have been strengthened because it shows us Hex as a man content with his life, his experiences with Indians (is this why he can talk to the dead?), and then as a man who has become derailed. The entire film is devoted to Hex, who is in a one-dimensional mode the entire time.

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley

They don’t appear to be wasting any time on the Transformers 3 front. Geek Week has the scoop from a trusted inside source that Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, a current Victoria Secret’s model, is set to replace Megan Fox as the love interest of star Shia LaBeouf‘s Sam Witwicky.

The news broke just this past Wednesday that director Michael Bay had decided not to bring back Fox after some turmoil had been brewing between the two. Not long after those reports broke, Fox’s camp was claiming that it was she who had done the departing because of the relationship with Bay, so we may never really know. Personally, it’s hard to think that Megan Fox, despite her current level of fame, would pass up the pay day that was sure to fall into her lap for one more robo-alien turn.

Transformers

Deadline Hollywood is reporting that director Michael Bay has decided that will not be bringing starlet Megan Fox back for Transformers 3 when it’s released on July 1, 2011. Fox has been the female lead in the first two movies, but some angry fire has been growing between her and Bay, and this seems to be one definitive finger-of-choice from the director.

Since appearing in 2007’s Transformers, hand-selected by director Michael Bay himself, Megan Fox has gone on to super stardom and the adoration of many a young gentlemen.

After all the fame and success came, the actress famously had some negative things to say about Bay and how his movies only focus on special effects and not at all on acting, and how Transformers was “for geniuses” and impossible to understand. The director came back at by saying that Fox “had a lot of growing up to do” and that many stars became stars because of roles that he gave them.

Based on the comics written by John Albano and drawn by Tony DeZuniga, these new Jonah Hex Motion Comics are perfect for all you western lovers out there. If you recall, Warner Premiere is the same company that brought us both the Batman: Black and White and Watchmen Motion Comics series.

Over the course of 7 episodes, which will lead up to the theatrical release, the Motion Comics specifically cover three archival stories from Jonah Hex’s comics past. The first five episodes are adapted from the graphic novel Two Gun Mojo, which features Jonah Hex seeking justice and revenge against Doc Williams and his gang over a murdered friend. The other two stories are taken from the 1970’s comics The Gunfighter and The Hangin’ Woman. Viewers should be aware these stories are re-colored and animated for the first time.

Ferarri 458 Italia

We haven’t heard much in terms of Transformers 3 since Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen hit theaters to a tidal wave of mass disappointment from fans. The third flick in the franchise has been in the news here and there, but with director Michael Bay looking to do something else and lots of drama reported between he and star Megan Fox, it sounded like it would be a long time before we saw it…if ever.

Apparently this is not the case at all. Bay has written a new post on his official blog, and he not only shares three big new names that have joined the cast, but when pre-production will get underway, where the movie will be filming, and even a new Autobot that we’ll see. The interesting trio that have joined the cast are Burn After Reading co-stars John Malkovich and Frances McDormand, and they’re joined by Ken Jeong.
