| Robert Rodriguez Casts Charlie Sheen As U.S. President In ‘Machete Kills’
If the addition of a one Mel Gibson wasn’t intriguing enough for you, director Robert Rodriguez has announced that he has also cast tabloid magnet Charlie Sheen in his upcoming sequel, Machete Kills. Rodriguez made the announcement via the Twitter, where he also revealed that Sheen would actually be playing the President of the United States of America (which feels strangely fitting, no?).

| Could David Tennant Be Joining The Cast of ‘Fast Six’?
This could just be a rumor, but it’s too cool not to report. Take it with a few grains of salt if you please. Hot on the heels of the news that Welsh actor Luke Evans (The Hobbit) was recently offered the villain role – a part once intended for Jason Statham – in next summer’s turbo-charged action sequel Fast Six (or The Fast and the Furious 6) comes the mildly startling revelation that the movie might be getting a little extra class in its cast in the form of David Tennant. The former Doctor Who star is reportedly being wooed by Justin Lin – the director of last year’s mega-successful Fast Five as well as its previous two sequels – for an undisclosed role in what will surely be another summer slam dunk for Universal Pictures.

| Michelle Rodriguez Reprises Her Characters In ‘Fast and Furious 6’ and ‘Machete Kills’
The Fast and Furious franchise seems to be following in the footsteps of the comic book world with characters that never really die even though it appears as if they did. Michelle Rodriguez who seemingly died in Fast and Furious and then appeared in the post credits scene in Fast Five, is officially signed on to reprise her role in the tentatively titled Fast and Furious 6. Rodriguez will also return to reprise her role in Machete Kills, the sequel to Robert Rodriguez’s Machete. Rodriguez, who made a brief return in Fast Five, reunites with Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Dwayne Johnson. Gina Carano and possibly Luke Evans and Rihanna will join them. Justin Lin returns to the director’s chair once more to take on the sixth installment of the Fast and Furious franchise, which is said to take place in Europe with Dwayne Johnson still in hot pursuit of Paul Walker and Vin Diesel.

| Movie Review: Battle: Los Angeles |

Battle: Los Angeles
Directed by Jonathan Liebesman
Staring Aaron Eckhart, Michelle Rodriguez, Ne-Yo, Ramon Rodriguez
Rated PG-13
Release date: March 11, 2011
As Battle: Los Angeles begins, we meet Staff Sergeant Michael Nantz (Aaron Eckhart). He is an older soldier, and at the start of the movie, decides that his best years are behind him, and chooses to retire. As fate would have it, he has one last mission, and he is assigned to a group of Marines led by a young Lieutenant (Ramon Rodriguez). Unfortunately, that last mission involves aliens invading and the possible end of mankind. The rest of the movie deals with the Marines trying to rescue some civilians while fighting the alien menace. Battle: Los Angeles tries to be a combination of Black Hawk Down and District 9, but unfortunately, it never reaches the levels of either. To be fair, I don’t think it was the creator’s goal to make as deep a movie as those two are. It seems like they just wanted to make a cool alien invasion movie, and in that they succeeded. The movie has a pretty fast pace, and never slows down for too long, meaning that I didn’t ever lose interest in what was going on. The CGI is decent enough; director Jonathan Liebesman and his team chose to use a lot of smoke to obscure the effects a little. You very rarely get a good look at the aliens, and they’re never really established as a threat, other than having superior firepower, but even then, the aliens can be taken down with modern human weaponry.
