As the summer movie season has officially come to a close after the release of Mission: Impossible: Rogue Nation, it’s that time once again to give you fine folks out there a list of my top ten movies of 2015, so far. Going over my list, it seems I have seen 49 new movies so far, and once again, this also includes older movies I have seen for the first time. Simon Pegg Star Wars Prequels Mission Impossible Rogue Nation

Back in July, a sizzle reel for Star Wars: The Force Awakens was shown at San Diego Comic-Con, and in the video, someone unexpected showed up — Mr. Simon Pegg. While Pegg has made a name for himself with Edgar Wright’s “The Three Flavours Cornetto Trilogy (Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, The World’s End), the actor has also been a part of major film franchises like Star Trek, Mission: Impossible, and Chronicles of Narnia. But, if you know Pegg, then you know he’s a total Star Wars fanatic (check out his book Nerd Do Well). We don’t know yet what his role in the new Star Wars film will be, but one thing’s for sure, if there’s an actor out there who deserves to have a part in the Star Wars saga, it’s Simon Pegg.

With that, while Pegg was making the press rounds for his latest film, the Tom Cruise actioner Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation, MTV asked him to rank all six existing Star Wars films from worst to best in under a minute.

Check out that video here below.

Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation Review

When doing the press rounds for a film as big as Mission: Impossible, it’s hard not to hear a question about sequels. Normally, answers seem to pander to the talk show hosts, but in some cases, there are truths to the talent’s answers. In this case, Tom Cruise said that they were working on Mission: Impossible 6, despite the Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation not having it’s US theatrical release at the time. Of course, studios base their decision on the film’s performance at the box office, and now with Rogue Nation taking the number one spot at the box office with an impressive $57 million last weekend, there was no question that a sequel would be in order.

More after the jump.

“Hunt is the living manifestation of destiny and he has made you his mission.”

Directed by Brian De Palma and starring Tom Cruise, 1996’s Mission: Impossible was a critical and commercial success. Based on the 1960s CBS television series, the adaptation became the third highest-grossing film of that year, bested only by Twister and Independence Day.

Five movies and two decades later, the Mission: Impossible franchise shows no signs of slowing. The latest installment, Christopher McQuarrie‘s Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation, is an action-packed spy thriller that’s bolder than Bond and more fun than Furious 7.

Edge of Tomorrow movie still

The newest installment of the Mission: Impossible franchise Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation opens in theaters this weekend, and as always talks of a sequel have already made the press rounds. Tom Cruise is currently on whirlwind tour to promote the film, which is getting rave reviews. While the franchise doesn’t adhere to filming sequels like Marvel does, production on the sequel may start sooner than later. According to Cruise, the film could start production as early as next year.

Cruise is also talking about the possibility of an Edge of Tomorrow 2, and has apparently pitched an idea to director Doug Liman and screenwriter Christopher McQuarrie. More on the story below.
