When looking for inspiration for modern comedy, I know what you’re thinking”¦ the 14th century! For The Little Hours, writer/director Jeff Baena turns to an odd source, Giovanni Boccaccio’s The Decameron. Written in the late 1300s after the Bubonic Plague ripped Europe apart, The Decameron was a collection of novellas about ten young people living in a secluded villa. The atmosphere and period setting made me instinctively think of Monty Python and the Holy Grail while the tone of the comedy — sex-based and vulgar — brought to mind There’s Something About Mary and Superbad. Somehow these two angles come together to form an oddly unique film that is intriguing throughout and laugh out loud funny at times.

Wet Hot American Summer: Ten Years Later Confirmed

Last summer a limited series prequel to the 2001 comedy Wet Hot American Summer, which was set on the last day of summer camp in 1981, arrived on Netflix titled Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp. The joke being that all of the actors who appeared in the original would be 15 years older despite the show taking place earlier. Now another eight-episode season is officially on the way, this time a sequel.

In the original movie, there’s a scene in which the camp attendees agree to meet back there a decade later to catch up. It took 16 years to get to it, but fans will finally be able to see how that meeting went down. Netflix has confirmed that Wet Hot American Summer: Ten Years Later will arrive in 2017.

You can check out a brief confirmation video including the above mentioned scene below.

Wet Hot American Summer: First Day Of Camp Header

Netflix has just released the latest trailer for their new upcoming limited series comedy Wet Hot American Summer: First Day Of Camp. The eight episode series run takes place before the events of the 2001 cult film.

Director and co-writer David Wain made a point of having the actors play younger versions of themselves in the series despite most of them being fortysomething year-olds. Can’t be sure what’s funnier, that notion or just the amount of hilarity that is seen in the trailer alone. So check it out below.
