Netflix has just released the latest trailer for their new upcoming limited series comedy Wet Hot American Summer: First Day Of Camp. The eight episode series run takes place before the events of the 2001 cult film.
Director and co-writer David Wain made a point of having the actors play younger versions of themselves in the series despite most of them being fortysomething year-olds. Can’t be sure what’s funnier, that notion or just the amount of hilarity that is seen in the trailer alone. So check it out below.
Now take a deep breath as Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp will bring back Elizabeth Banks, Michael Ian Black, Bradley Cooper, Judah Friedlander, Janeane Garofalo, Joe Lo Truglio, Ken Marino, Christopher Meloni, Marguerite Moreau, Zak Orth, Amy Poehler, David Hyde Pierce, Paul Rudd, Molly Shannon, and Michael Showalter, as well as H. Jon Benjamin. In addition to the alums returning to reprise their respective roles, they will be joined by the likes of Kristen Wiig, John Slattery, Jordan Peele, Michael Cera, and “introducing Jon Hamm.”
The trailer pretty much highlights everything fans love about the cult classic, with the actors looking like they still remember everything about their characters like it was yesterday. It’s so funny to see how much has changed between 2001 and now, with so many of these actors going on to be writers, directors, producers, Academy Award nominees, and for them to come back to reprise their roles for what looks like a series that is long overdue.
