Remake Of 1922’s ‘Nosferatu’ On The Way

Many, many vampire movies have been made over the years, most of which were inspired by Bram Stoker’s 1897 novel Dracula. But the first feature-length vampire movie of them all was none other than 1922’s Nosferatu: A Symphony of Horror, or simply Nosferatu.
The movie was directed by F.W. Murnau and starred Max Schreck in the lead role as Count Orlok, and it was based on Stoker’s Dracula…though not officially. They couldn’t secure the rights to adapt the novel, so they simply made something very similar but different. Hence Count Orlok instead of Count Dracula, and so on. The Stoker estate sued and the court ordered that all copies of Nosferatu be destroyed but, thankfully for us, a few copies made it and it eventually became a legend of the horror genre.
Now a remake of Nosferatu is in the works at Jeff Robinov‘s Studio 8, with Robert Eggers set to write and direct the remake.

Kickstarter Spotlight: ‘Nosferatu’ Starring Doug Jones

Chances are you’ve seen, or at least heard of, Nosferatu: A Symphony of Horror if you’re a movie fan. The 1922 silent film is one of the first feature horror movies ever made, and the first featuring a vampire—an unauthorized adaptation of Bram Stoker’s 1897 novel Dracula.
With his currently running Kickstarter campaign, filmmaker David Lee Fisher hopes to give Nosferatu the “visual remix” treatment, which may sound strange but it is quite interesting. He has an intriguing plan, lead star, and some crew in place, and he’s not seeking all that much money to make it. But they do still have a ways to go before reaching their goal, and time is running out. That’s when we fine folks come in!
Continue reading for info on the project, and to see their Kickstarter video, which shows off the unusual way they will “remix” Nosferatu.

Nosferatu Wars
Written by Steve Niles
Art and Cover by menton3
Letters by Nate Piekos of Blambot
Dark Horse Comics
Release Date: March 12, 2014
Cover Price: $3.99
Don’t you just love it when something great just comes together? Take Nosferatu Wars, for instance. Originally published in four parts in Dark Horse Presents #26-#29, this comic is a perfect example of a classic vampire story. And what makes it even better is the way the creators twist this tale to bring us something completely out of this world.
Centered around two vampires, Tarquin and Moira, we are given a story of unfettered bloodlust and carnage mingled with a love affair that has stretched for ages. The setting is the old world and the time is that of the Black Death. Using this horrible plague as a cover for their nightly exploits, the two undead lovers travel towards the estate of a nobleman with deadly purpose.
Upon arrival there, they are faced with seemingly overwhelming odds that quickly turn in their favor thanks to their strength and ruthlessness. Slaying much of the household, they present the lord of the manor with a proposition, one he quickly accepts. But as with all things, the devil is in the details as he soon finds out.
