| The GoD List: Comics For December 13, 2011 |
 |

Each and every week “Henchman24″ MK2Fac3 and “Dr. McDavid” Henchman21 read a lot of comics. Seriously you guys, a lot of comics. Maybe too many comics. I mean, it is possible”¦ theoretically. They look forward to some more than others, I mean, who doesn’t? So, let’s take a look into the depths of their pull lists, grab some comics, and we’ll let YOU know what the top books to look forward to are for the week of December 14, 2011. Single issues and trades, they’re all here. The collective “HenchFac3” attempts to bring you the knowledge of the latest and greatest comic books that are being released each and every week. Now, unfortunately, the situation does not always play out in the manner in which we have anticipated. Sometimes, we pick absolute flops. Sometimes we pick books that don’t even ship that week. And sometimes, we pick the same comic every month. We’re not theoretical physicists, and as much as MK2Fac3 wants you to believe that he’s Batman, he’s totally not. He cannot prepare for any and all eventualities. But more often than not, we pick some really good books. And while our track record does not garner us a perfect score, I think that if you pick up this week’s books, you’ll be more than impressed with our choices. For we are “The HenchFac3,” and this, well this is The GoD List.

Action Comics #900 is quite simply a celebration of everything great about Superman as a character. The issue, throughout most of the stories, is a showcase of Superman’s willingness to help and serve the human race primarily through self-sacrifice. Most of the recent anniversary episodes that we’ve seen, primarily through DC Comics, have been treated as anthologies with three or more short stories, one focusing on the end of a story arc, a couple of “untold tales,” and then one that starts the next story arc in Superman #700 and Wonder Woman #600; either that or a one and done story like Batman #700. This book, on the other hand, focused more than half of its attention on the wrap-up of Lex Luthor’s Black Ring storyline by Paul Cornell and Pete Woods, and the return of Superman into Action Comics. Unfortunately, it also includes the recent Reign of Doomsday story arc, although in this issue it was a minor distraction, but still paled in comparison to the epic showdown between arch rivals Superman and Lex Luthor.

| Five Page Preview for Stan Lee’s New Comic ‘Soldier Zero’ BOOM! Studios and POW! Entertainment have sent us a five-page preview from Soldier Zero #1, the new comic created by comic legend Stan Lee.
Check out the five pages, as well as the various covers, here below. Soldier Zero, written by Paul Cornell (Action Comics) with art by Javier Pina (Superman), will be out in November, and is available for pre-order now so if these pages look good to you, make sure you tell your comic book guy to hook you up. Soldier Zero is about a normal college student named Stewart Travers and what happens when a parasite falls to Earth, transforming him into a weapon. It sounds like a combination of Spider-Man, Green Lantern, and about a million anime series, but with Cornell behind the typewriter, it could turn out to be a pretty decent series. And judging from these preview pages, the art is looking decent as well.
