SDRR Meet Johnny Rock

Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll premiered Thursday, July 16th on FX, and I loved it. Short and sweet, vulgar and kind, so wrong yet the music makes it so right, if they keep this up – this will be a guaranteed hit. And those that have been with me through pilot shows know that the expectation is lower, without connections or background or a crazy shock factor. But this pilot was a blast.

Do you wanna give it a shot? Watch the Meet the Characters videos below and decide for yourself.

Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll premiered last Thursday night, and it really was just 25 minutes of fun. Based on washed up, druggie, has-been, Johnny Rock (Denis Leary) of fictional 90s band, The Heathens, and his long lost daughter Gigi (Liz Gillies), the pilot gives us how she got the band back together – only not the same together it was before.

Be sure to check out the official music video for the Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll theme song below.

SDRR Heathens Young Header

SDRR and FX has released 4 “rockumentaries” for fictional band, The Heathens. The videos provide a bit of history for this has-been band, fronted by Johnny Rock (Denis Leary), axe man Flash (John Corbett), bassist Rehab (John Ales), and Bam-Bam (Robert Kelly) who pounds away on the kit. Johnny Rock’s long lost daughter is Gigi (Liz Gillies), whose vocals will propel the band into the 21st Century (they hope). We hope so too. We want Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll to stick around after this promising publicity.

Watch all 4 “Rockumentaries” below.
