| George Lucas & ‘Robot Chicken’ Team To Deliver New Animated ‘Star Wars’ Series
Robot Chicken and Family Guy were both given a special blessing by George Lucas himself to create special episodes of their show that would spoof the classic Star Wars saga of films. So far, everything we’ve seen of these specials (with at least the third spoof from Family Guy expected) has been hilarious, and it’s clear that when done right, Star Wars spoofs can go on for ever and ever and ever. The folks over at LucasFilm have come to this realization, and according to reports, have entered into a new deal with Robot Chicken creators Seth Green and Matthew Senreich to become creative talents involved in a new comedic animated Star Wars series. Brendan Hay, who writes for The Daily Show, is one of the names brought in to work on the series, and Todd Grimes will be a director. Jennifer Hill (The Backyardians) will be a producer.

Family Guy Presents: Something Something Something Dark Side
DVD | Blu-ray
Directed by Dominic Polcino
Starring Seth MacFarlane, Seth Green, Alex Borstein, Mila Kunis, Patrick Warburton, Mike Green
20th Century Fox Home Entertainment
Release Date: December 22, 2009
Family Guy is at it again with their second visit to the Star Wars universe in Something Something Something Dark Side. After they successfully spoofed Star Wars: A New Hope in humorous but faithful fashion with Blue Harvest, we could hardly wait for more to come around. Now that we have this cartoon version of Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back available to us, the trilogy spoof is almost complete! The best thing about these movies is that everyone can enjoy them. Not everyone is a Star Wars fanatic, so this is a hilarious way for them to see the world and the characters, even if it’s absurdly different from the way that George Lucas created them to be. For those of you non-Star Wars fans, this second film in the series takes place a few years after the Rebel Alliance blew the hell out of the Emperor and Darth Vader’s precious Death Star. Now the Empire is hot on their tail with plans for revenge. After Luke Skywalker comes into his own as a Jedi with intense training by Jedi Master Yoda, he hurries to a showdown with Vader after the evil Sith springs a trap on Han Solo, Princess Leia, and his other companions. Head on over to the not-so-dark other side for more and to check out a trailer from this new movie.

| Must Watch: Second ‘Family Guy’ ‘Star Wars’ Spoof Gets A Trailer |
 |

A couple of years ago, George Lucas himself gave the OK to Seth MacFarlane and Seth Green to spoof his classic Star Wars saga with their respective shows Family Guy and Robot Chicken. So far, we’ve seen a hilarious Family Guy spoof of A New Hope called Blue Harvest and two Robot Chicken specials. It has taken quite a while to get around to Family Guy‘s take on The Empire Strikes Back, but thankfully it will finally be released on DVD and Blu-ray December 22, 2009 and there is now a new trailer to watch via Apple. The movie is called Something, Something, Something, Dark Side, which is quite fittingly a reference to a previous Family Guy joke. It will follow the basic premise of the movie, as they did the first time around, adding crude and silly humor wherever it will be allowed. Click on over to to the dark side (baddum-cha!) to watch the trailer and read the brief synopsis for the movie. From this peek, it definitely looks like this could be just as funny as Blue Harvest was, and your time shan’t be wasted.

Robot Chicken: Star Wars – Episode II
Directed by Seth Green

Adult Swim

Some things in life just go really well together. Peanut Butter and Jelly, and Chocolate Chip and Mints are just some of the prime examples, but now you can add Robot Chicken and Star Wars into the mix as well. When the popular stop-motion series Robot Chicken decided to parody the mega popular Star Wars franchise the first time around, the reviews for the show was overwhelmingly positive. Even George Lucas approved so you can only imagine that it wouldn’t be long until the sequel Robot Chicken: Star Wars Episode II showed up.
Nothing has changed much since the first special. The folks at Robot Chicken, led by bite-sized star Seth Green, are still offering up their hilarious and often times, insane, fanboy interpretations of key moments in the Star Wars franchise. Ever wonder what happens to Boba Fett moments after he meets his fate in Return of the Jedi or what was going through the mind of Luke during his key battle with Darth Vader? All those questions are answered and even some random ‘what if’ scenarios are touched on in this funny special.

| SDCC 09: ‘Venture Brothers’ Panel |
 |

I already covered the news coming out of the Adult Swim side of this panel here, but the bulk of this panel was taken up with news and questions regarding the Venture Brothers. There were a lot of great cosplayers in the crowd, including at least a dozen Dr. Girlfriends, so you could tell that a lot of people were fired up for it.
The biggest thing that the crowd saw was the preview for the new season, which premiers in October. The biggest thing in the preview was the look we got at how Hank and Dean are growing up, especially now that all their clones were destroyed at the end of Season 3. Dr. Venture will be getting a new bodyguard, although it wasn’t shown who that would be. As to be expected there were a lot of funny moments to look forward to. Some information that has already been announced, but which I will repeat here, is that Season Four will be broken up into two 8-episode sections, with the first 8 in October, and the rest airing next year. Creators Jackson Publick and Doc Hammer confirmed that there will be a lot of characters showing up who have been mentioned before, but never seen, including Monstroso and Captain Sunshine. Viewers will also get to see who the members of the Council of 13 actually are.
