Maleficent

A new poster for Maleficent has been released by Walt Disney, featuring Angelina Jolie as the feared villainess.

The movie is something of a prequel, and also a retelling of Disney’s classic 1959 animated feature, Sleeping Beauty, taking the film’s primary antagonist, Maleficent (Jolie), and telling the story of who she was before, how an act of betrayal turned her heart to stone, and why she ultimately cursed a young princess named Aurora.

You can check out the new poster and read a description below.

“Illegals” risk their lives to escape the planet’s crime and poverty, in desperate need of the state-of-the-art medical technology available on Elysium – but Secretary Delacourt (Jodie Foster) will stop at nothing to enforce anti-immigration laws and preserve Elysium citizens’ luxurious lifestyle.

Max is outfitted with a powerful exoskeleton and kidnaps a wealthy businessman (William Fichtner) in order to steal his identity and hijack his way into Elysium. If he succeeds, he could save not only his own life, but the poor, huddled masses on Earth as well.

SDCC 2013: Europa Report panel banner

Another year, another set of fascinating panels here at San Diego’s Comic-con international 2013. First off this Thursday is a panel for Europa Report, the film Space.com called “One of the most thrilling and realistic depictions of deep-space exploration since Moon and 2001: A Space Odyssey.”

The panelists were director Sebastian Cordero, composer Bear McCreary (composer of Battlestar Galactica and The Walking Dead), producer Ben Browning, and actress Karolina Wydra, alongside JPL scientists Steve Vance and Kevin Hand. Astronomer Dr. Phil Plait moderated.

Starting the panel off, Dr. Plait mentioned that the three reasons we explore space are resources, danger, and simply to explore — sheer curiosity. And sometimes that exploration comes with a price.
