| ‘Rogue One: A Star Wars Story’ Reshoots To Fix Tone
Yesterday it was reported that Disney executives were unhappy with a test screening of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and had ordered expensive reshoots. No first cut is perfect, and even then sometimes reshoots are necessary. In fact, they happen often in the industry. But now we are getting a better picture of why Disney ordered reshoots. But their reasoning may surprise you. According to a new report, the studio doesn’t see this as a disaster. But will use the reshoots as an opportunity to fix the tone. More on the story below.

The World According To Star Wars
Hardcover | Kindle Edition | Audio CD
Written by Cass R. Sunstein
Dey Street Books
Release Date: May 31st, 2016 No one can deny the power of the Force as it permeates all aspects of American society (and other societies), including education and especially pop culture. It’s amazing how a silly little science fiction movie from the 1970s became a global phenomenon, spawning bunches of movies, television shows, books, and toys for billions of dollars. I remember sitting in a college mythology class reading Joseph Campbell’s The Hero With a Thousand Faces, and the professor said, “Luke Skywalker follows the cycle of the hero,” and I perked up. He really does. I, in turn, taught mythology to high school students and used Luke Skywalker (and Neo from Matrix). I’ve also discussed it right here on Geeks of Doom, a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away. And that is just a drop of what Cass R. Sunstein discusses in his soon-to-be-required-for-college text, The World According To Star Wars. More below.

| Disney Execs Not Pleased With ‘Rogue One’ First Cut; Expensive Reshoots Planned |
 |

Now that Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Captain America: Civil War have been released and made their respective impacts, the next highly-anticipated big screen blockbuster event of 2016 is Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. The first in a series of and prequels and spin-offs featuring characters and events integral to the evolution of the Star Wars universe, Rogue One tells the tale of the group of brave Rebellion soldiers who stole the plans to the Death Star that set in motion the narrative of Episode IV: A New Hope. The first trailer premiered almost two months ago to an enthusiastic worldwide response. Executives at Disney are counting on Rogue One to bring in global box office grosses equal to or greater than those of last December’s Star Wars: The Force Awakens, but according to a recent article by Page One’s Emily Smith, those same execs are less than thrilled with director Gareth Edwards after viewing his first cut of the film.

| Watch Now: Rare ‘Revenge Of The Jedi’ Teaser Trailer
We’ve seen teaser trailers for Revenge of the Jedi, the original title of the original Star Wars trilogy-maker before it was changed to Return of the Jedi, in the past. That previously seen trailer shows plenty of footage for the movie in its minute and a half runtime, and also announces the movie’s May 25, 1983 release date. But to go along with the 33rd anniversary of the movie’s release yesterday, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences released a teaser for Revenge that could actually be the first trailer for the movie that was ever seen. The 30-second trailer only shows publicity stills and announces a Christmas release back when one was being planned for the UK, where the teaser was shown. You can read the story behind this rare Revenge of the Jedi teaser trailer below.
