‘Avengers: Infinity War’ Crossover With ‘Defenders’ Improbable

Avengers Defenders possible crossover

When it was announced that Marvel would be expanding the MCU on Netflix by airing four series based on heroes of New York City, it was hoped that such an expansion would mean that said heroes would appear in the final two Avengers filmssoon to be retitled. But finding a way to fit 67 characters into the two films would be problematic and highly unlikely to happen.

But having all the characters from the films and television would be a true comic book movie event of epic proportions. Now that Captain America: Civil War has had its hugely successful opening weekend, writers Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely recently talked about the possibility of the crossover happening in the two upcoming Avengers: Infinity War films once more. Captain America Civil War Team Cap

Captain America: Civil War finds our Steve Rogers leading a newly formed Avengers to continue to protect the world from lethal threats. But no good deed goes unpunished, and when a routine mission to apprehend a terrorist goes horribly wrong, the United Nations installs a system of accountability, headed by a governing body to oversee and direct the team. This fractures the team, with Steve running a team who is against government oversight and Tony Stark who makes a surprising decision to fully support the system of checks and balances.

Last week we shared the top ten things we learned Team Iron Man said at the Captain America: Civil War press conference. From character evolutions to the new technological advances to telling a more engrossing story, Marvel Studios’ latest film is already being praised as the best comic book movie ever.

‘Avengers: Infinity War’ Writers Talk Thanos Screen Time, If There Will Be 67 Characters

For Marvel Studios, Avengers: Infinity War is so massive it had to be split into two parts. The Russo brothers (Anthony and Joe) will be reteaming with their Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Captain America: Civil War screenwriters Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely on the two-part epic.

While the Russos let slip and then backtracked on the idea that there will be 67 characters in the film, Markus and McFeely went on to clarify even further how many characters will be facing The Mad Titan. According to them, there won’t be 67 characters but Thanos will be getting lots of good screen time. More on the story below.

Earlier this week it was announced that The Russo Brothers signed on to direct Avengers: Infinity War. The two are well-versed in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, having directed Captain America: The Winter Soldier and returning to direct its upcoming sequel Captain America: Civil War. Now, a new report says that they will be reuniting with their Winter Soldier writers, Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely for the sequel as well. Hit the jump for more.
