| Joss Whedon Semi-Backtracks On Solo Hulk Film Statements
There’s been a handful of conflicting standalone Hulk film reports floating around the web in the past few weeks. It all started when Latino-Review had an exclusive scoop on the future of the character and his standalone films. Marvel Studios didn’t comment on the subject when the news broke, but the people behind the film began to speak out about the impossibility of there being a solo Hulk film, namely The Avengers and The Avengers 2 director Joss Whedon. Back then he said making a solo Hulk film would be “very, very hard.” Now, Whedon is clarifying his previous statements, but also maintaining that they don’t know much about the solo Hulk film that is supposedly being planned for Phase 3 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

| New Report Smashes ‘Planet Hulk’ Rumors; Joss Whedon Says Solo Hulk Movie Would Be “Very Hard” |
 |

Considering Joss Whedon is the chief creative consultant for all things Marvel at Walt Disney Studios, he would have oversight on the structure of not only The Avengers 2, but any other film that precedes it. One of the biggest stories to hit the web in the past few weeks came from El Mayimbe from Latino Review. According to his inside sources, The Avengers 2 would be a segue for Hulk’s solo film, Planet Hulk, and then use the World War Hulk storyline for The Avengers 3. Previous statements made by Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige seemed to support that story. It seems to make sense. Both Planet Hulk and World War Hulk were highly successful story arcs that sold really well on comic book stands, and those two stories would fit perfectly into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but Whedon is coming out and saying that not only a Hulk solo movie would be “very, very hard” to do, but a new report seems to squash all the rumors and speculations of the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe being based on the two aforementioned Hulk story arcs.

| Marvel Studios’ Plans For The Hulk In Phase 2 & Phase 3
Back in September, Marvel Studios’ President Kevin Feige stated that he had a couple of ideas for a Hulk movie. A solo film for Marvel’s green muscle bound hero has had some mild success, but for the most part the hero has been the most difficult to adapt, mostly because Marvel runs the risk of being repetitive in terms of what the Hulk will be doing. Feige told MTV that Hulk was worthy enough of having his own film, but it was just a matter of finding the right story. Now a report from Latino Review says that Marvel has some big plans for the Hulk. WARNING, spoilers do follow, so if you don’t want to know about what Marvel’s plans has in store for the Hulk, then I suggest you hit that back button. But if you want to know, then hit the jump.

| Joss Whedon Talks ‘Avengers 2’ Script, ‘S.H.I.E.L.D.’ TV Show & Marvel Films |
 |

To say that Joss Whedon is overwhelmingly busy would probably be an understatement. The guy is currently writing and will direct The Avengers 2; he’s an executive producer for the planned S.H.I.E.L.D. television series, and he’s a creative consultant for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Not only that, but he also has to push his contemporary adaptation of Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing in the summer. So yeah, he’s got a lot on his plate. But somehow he finds the time to attend events, and at a recent function, he shared a few things about the status of The Avengers 2, S.H.I.E.L.D., and his involvement in creating the films of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Whedon told MTV that The Avengers 2 has an outline and that the script should be ready in a few months. On the tone of the film, he said that The Avengers 2 would go deeper instead of bigger. Honestly after a huge battle like the one we saw in the first film, it be nice to get a more personal story and take a step back from the big hefty action. Apparently he wants to go so deep and personal that it will be painful.

| Hugo Weaving Not Interested In Returning As The Red Skull In Future Marvel Movies
Very few of the Marvel Cinematic Universe villains have lived long enough to see a sequel. But one fate that is the most mysterious so far is the fate of the Red Skull. While Tom Hiddleston‘s Loki continues to live on to be a threat to Thor and The Avengers, Hugo Weaving doesn’t seem to be too excited to reprise his role as the Red Skull, a character he captured effortlessly in Joe Johnston’s Captain America: The First Avenger. While the actor did admit that he wasn’t keen on coming back as the Red Skull, he also said that he would reprise the role only because he is contractually obligated to do so. Here is the full quote from Collider.
