Justice League

Last we had heard in regard to Justice League, Warner Brothers was waiting to see how Zack Snyder‘s Superman flick Man of Steel performed before making a decision. And as for Batman, director and star of the Dark Knight trilogy, Christopher Nolan and Christian Bale, were both done with that franchise and moving on.

But, if a new report is to be believed, Warners doesn’t want to let that proven tag-team cash cow escape so easily, and has plans for all of them to be involved with the Justice League movie.

Rumor: Could Joseph Gordon-Levitt Play Batman In The ‘Justice League’ Movie?

The Dark Knight Rises - Joseph Gordon-Levitt as John Blake

Yesterday, our magnificent man with the news eelyajekiM reported that next summer’s Superman reboot Man of Steel may play a vital role in leading into the long-awaited 2015 release of Justice League. If that’s the case, then Warner Bros. has decided to take a page from the Marvel Studios’ playbook and use their solo superhero films to build up to the team-up epic, a formula that proved to be a surefire winner when you look at the grosses for The Avengers.

Anyone who’s been following the development and production of Man of Steel and its dovetailing with the release of The Avengers could have guessed by now that the new Superman, played by Henry Cavill, would naturally be leading the League when they make their big screen bow in three summers, around the same time The Avengers 2 hits movie screens. What wasn’t so obvious was who the studio would pick to play Batman seeing as how the Christopher Nolan-directed Dark Knight trilogy has concluded and Christian Bale doesn’t appear to be willing to be a team player in the Justice League since Nolan won’t be involved.

The Art and Making Of The Dark Knight TrilogyThe Art and Making of The Dark Knight Trilogy
Written by Jody Duncan Jesser
Hardcover
Abrams Books | 304 Pages
Release Date: July 20, 2012

In 2005, director Christopher Nolan reinvigorated Warner Bros.’ blundering Batman film franchise with Batman Begins, starring Christian Bale as Gotham’s caped crusader.

A dark, realistic reboot of DC’s brooding avenger, Batman Begins explored the comic book hero’s origins and his evolution from billionaire playboy Bruce Wayne to watchful protector, combating crime and corruption in Gotham City.

A 2008 sequel, The Dark Knight, took the intriguing, character-driven premise and raised the stakes, pitting Batman in an all-out war against the Joker (Heath Ledger), a sinister agent of chaos who killed Bruce Wayne’s greatest love and transformed District Attorney Harvey Dent (Aaron Eckhart) into the vengeful Two-Face.

2012’s The Dark Knight Rises provided a definitive conclusion to the Dark Knight legend as masked terrorist Bane (Tom Hardy) held Gotham City hostage under the fear of nuclear annihilation, forcing the Dark Knight to resurface and save a city that branded him an enemy.

The Dark Knight Rages

Batman is one of the greatest superheroes the world has ever known. He’s a brilliant detective and a master at kicking ass and looking awesome while doing it all. He has encountered a rogues gallery of freaks, monsters, psychos, and other devious criminal minds who would make Hannibal Lecter soil his britches. But for some reason he just can’t seem to get a handle on playing video games. In fact, they tend to make him irrationally angry, as you’ll see in this clever short video The Dark Knight Rages put together by the little comedic geniuses at Crave Online.

You can watch the video here below.

If you’ve ever wanted to see Batman and his youthful ward in crimefighting Robin attempt to bond over a hearty round of Xbox 360 that degenerates into an all-out brutal smackdown with Robin wondering out loud why his suit has nipples, then you have come to the right place. This vid features a lot of references to Batman movies and TV shows past and present, but come on Bats, that whole “my parents are dead” bit will only excuse so much in life.

Bane

If you were the one of many who watched The Dark Knight Rises in glorious IMAX, then you may have noticed the genius music and the booming sounds coming from explosions, The Bat hovering over Gotham City, and Bane’s terrifying voice. And all of that came together perfectly thanks in part to director Christopher Nolan, music composer Hans Zimmer, and sound editor/sound designer Richard King. Now Soundworks Collection has released a video of how it all came together and you can check it out below.

King reveals that Nolan was playing this one pretty close to the chest, and went as far as not revealing the last few pages of the script to those who were involved with the filmmaking process. Despite not knowing how the film was going to end, King praises Nolan for being very involved with the science of the sound for The Dark Knight Rises. The sound editor also talked about how the different sounds pieced together the different elements (The Bat, Bane, etc.) of the film.

The Legend Begins: A Possible Future For The Batman Movies

The Dark Knight Rises

“If you make yourself more than just a man, if you devote yourself to an ideal, and if they can’t stop you, then you become something else entirely…. a legend, Mr. Wayne.”

The Dark Knight Rises is now in theaters and Christopher Nolan‘s final film in his trilogy of Batman adventures that saved the Caped Crusader from damnation in a neon-drenched purgatory conjured by the overweening egos of an studio consumed by greed and contempt for the character’s rich history and massive global fan base is kicking ass at the box office worldwide and is on track to become one of the highest-grossing movies of the year. It’s also garnering glowing reviews from nearly every critic in the business (You can read our own FamousMonster’s amazing review of the film here) and most fans of the Batman movies are coming out of The Dark Knight Rises praising it overwhelmingly. Much like its predecessor, the 2008 Oscar-winning blockbuster The Dark Knight, the movie is also inspiring passionate debate about its timely political themes. Nolan’s trilogy has set a new precedent for how superhero comic book properties are adapted for the screen.

The question now is, what’s next?

5 Batman Villains Who Deserved The Christopher Nolan Treatment

Five Batman Villains

When Ra’s al Ghul (Liam Neeson) and Dr. Jonathan Crane (The Scarecrow, played by Cillian Murphy) appeared as villains in Christopher Nolan‘s 2005 film, Batman Begins, it was obvious that this Dark Knight series would be a drastic departure from the previous Batman movies by Tim Burton and Joel Schumacher.

Sadly, Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight Trilogy has come to an end, and after a heartfelt farewell letter it’s obvious he won’t be revisiting Gotham City any time soon. There’s still hope, however, that instead of rebooting the Batman franchise (and minimizing Nolan’s masterful trilogy), Warner Bros. will find a way to continue the story and put a new twist on some classic villains.

Below are 5 Batman Villains Who Deserved The Christopher Nolan Treatment – impractical, fantastical, altogether colorful bad guys who could be effectively re-worked as gritty, reality-based foes for the Dark Knight…
