| Disney In Depth: The Walt Disney Studios 2015 Preview (Part 2)
The Walt Disney Studios’ most exciting slate of films in recent memory arrives in 2015. Despite a few films shifting release dates from when I first considered this to be Disney’s most major year ever back in May 2013, the line-up of movies can excite anyone. Whether you adore Disney’s standard fare (sports, sci-fi, fantasy, and animation) or even anything under the Pixar, Lucasfilm, or Marvel banners, Disney will surely dominate the box office and perhaps even critical hits, too. | Disney Announces Release Dates For ‘Ghost In A Shell’, ‘Pete’s Dragon’; Moves ‘Jungle Book’Disney has just announced the release dates for Dreamworks’ Ghost In A Shell, starring Scarlett Johansson in the lead role, as well as their remake of Pete’s Dragon. They have also shifted the schedules for Jon Favreau‘s Jungle Book and Craig Gillespe‘s coast guard film The Finest Hours starring Chris Pine and Casey Affleck. Rupert Sanders (Snow White And The Huntsman) will direct a live-adaptation of the hit anime Ghost In A Shell, with the film slated for an April 4, 2017 release. While the Avengers actress’ schedule is busy, it shows that Disney wants to get the film out sooner than later. Also, with the recent cast announcements for the Pete’s Dragon remake, with Dexter‘s Michael C. Hall and Wes Bentley (American Horror Story: Freak Show) signing on, it only makes sense that the studio reveal the release date for the film, which will be August 12, 2016.

| ‘RED’ Director Robert Schwentke In Talks To Helm Disney’s ‘The Finest Hours’Both RED and the soon to be released R.I.P.D. are rich in action and comedy, but for Robert Schwentke‘s next directorial effort, there could a huge change of pace. Rather than direct another adaptation of a comic book, the director has entered talks to helm a film based on a true story for the Disney company. The Finest Hours centers on a story of U.S. Coast Guard’s heroic efforts to rescue two oil tankers during a blizzard in 1952. THR reports that James Tamasy and Eric Johnson (The Fighter) penned the script for The Finest Hours from the 2009 book of the same name, which was written by Casey Sherman and Michael J. Tougias. In 1952, 84 sea men struggled to survive when their ship was struck by the most brutal nor’easter in years. As a result, the Atlantic froze over and produced some of the worst winter winds and The U.S. Coast Guard was sent in for a rescue.
