| Universal Congratulates ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ On Breaking ‘Jurassic World’ Record (Image)
Over the weekend Star Wars: The Force Awakens broke a couple of records, and you might have already heard, including Jurassic World‘s all-time biggest domestic opening weekend record. Because Disney-owned Marvel was cool enough to congratulate Universal Pictures on breaking the record earlier this year, topping previous record-holder Marvel’s The Avengers, it seemed only fair that Universal return the favor. And that’s exactly what they’ve done. Just as Marvel tweeted out a congratulatory image of Chris Pratt riding a Tyrannosaurus rex holding Thor’s hammer Mjolnir in front of the Avengers team, Frank Marshall has tweeted out an image of the T-rex presenting droid BB-8 with a medal. You can check out the congratulations image below.

| ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ Destroys Records, As Expected
Everyone knew that when Star Wars: The Force Awakens finally arrived in theaters it was going to be a monster. This past weekend that arrival happened, and a monster it surely is. The box office numbers are in, and The Force Awakens went ahead and claimed some records to kick things off. Back in June, Jurassic World surprised all by taking off like a rocket on its way to breaking The Avengers‘ $207.4 million domestic opening record with a $208.8 million debut, leading Marvel to send along congratulations. Now, Marvel and Universal can both prepare a congratulatory card, maybe a nice fruit basket, for the new Star Wars, which threw down an unbelievable $248 million domestic opening. This should be easy for Marvel, as they reside in the same house owned by a certain mouse with the new record holder.

| Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Conan Tests Out ‘Star Wars’ Lightsaber
Everyone is in the Star Wars spirit right now…maybe even more so than those who are in the holiday season spirit. That’s thanks in part to unseasonably warm temperatures and lack of snow for some, but it says a whole lot about how big a new movie in the franchise is. Among the masses currently enjoying Star Wars fever with the release of The Force Awakens and out seeing the movie once or twice or ten times this weekend, Arnold Schwarzenegger decided to share a video of his Conan the Barbarian character testing out his own lightsaber. And it is a big ol’ ‘saber, fitting for Conan. The video is actually oddly soothing to watch as Conan swings his glowing blade to familiar music, and you can check it out below.

I can solidly state that Star Wars: The Force Awakens includes nearly everything a Star Wars fan loved about the Original Trilogy (1977), while leaving out much of what was problematic about the Prequel Trilogy (1999). In many ways, The Force Awakens feels a tad like a remake or reboot of the first film, 1977’s A New Hope. At its heart — during the new and dark time in which it takes place, the new characters very literally represent just that — a new hope and much needed new energy to fight the antagonists we face: The First Order, a dastardly remnant of the failed Galactic Empire. Little guys versus well-armed baddies? Definitely familiar territory, but here and now, 38 years after the debut of the original films, that’s a good thing.

| Andy Serkis Addresses Jar Jar Binks ‘The Force Awakens’ Rumors
There’s been a wacky rumor going around that Lord of the Rings and the Planet of the Apes reboot star Andy Serkis is actually playing Jar Jar Binks, the infamous Star Wars prequel trilogy character, in The Force Awakens, and that the character has become evil over the years. I’m not sure if anyone actually believed that the rumor was true, but Conan O’Brien asked Serkis about it on Conan, to which the actor confirmed he was in fact playing Jar Jar. Of course this was all in jest, but you can watch the video below to hear Serkis’s Jar Jar impression!
