The Last Guardian

Fans of Ico and Shadow of the Colossus waited a very long time to see the return of The Last Guardian at last year’s E3 convention.

For E3 2016, there was a new trailer shown, though it is a very brief one. The trailer wasn’t to show off more of the game this time around, but to announce something many have been waiting to see for many years now: an official release date for the game. The Last Guardian

The Last Guardian is the stuff of legends. It’s been in development since 2007, and first appeared at E3 2009. Then it disappeared. There’s been whispers here and there since then, but for the most part no one knew anything about its status and whether or not it was even still being made. Each and every E3 since ’09 we’ve been awaiting more on it, and now, six years later, it has returned.

The Sony presentation at E3 2015 opened with the first gameplay demo for The Last Guardian, which comes from the makers of Ico and Shadow of the Colossus. You can check out the video that got fans so excited for the game originally and the new gameplay preview below.

Now it looks like another popular game developer has the same thoughts going on. According to The Sixth Axis (via G4), rumors have been circulating that Team Ico was possibly planning to release two of their immensely-popular titles, Ico and Shadow of the Colossus, in a new two-game bundle, and that the duo would be updated in the highest of high definition Blu-ray for the PS3.
