HBO has officially ordered a third season of The Leftovers, but the news will no doubt be bittersweet for fans of the series, as it has also been confirmed that season three will be its final season.

The show, whose second season just recently came to a close a few days ago, comes from Damon Lindelof (LOST, Prometheus) and Tom Perrotta (Little Children) based on Perrotta’s book of the same name.

HBO has released the first trailer for the second season of The Leftovers, the series that takes place in a world where around 200 million people disappear mysteriously in a Rapture-like event.

Season 2 of the show was officially ordered almost exactly a year ago now. It’s based on the Tom Perrotta novel of the same name and comes from LOST co-creator and co-showrunner Damon Lindelof.

We’ve already seen a first and second teaser trailer for The Leftovers, the upcoming new HBO drama from LOST co-showrunner Damon Lindelof that tells the story of life after a Rapture-like event in which 2% of the world’s population disappears in an instant.

Each of the teasers are short—less than a minute in length—but now the first official full trailer has been released for your viewing enjoyment. The full trailer clocks in at over two-and-a-half minutes, and gives you a much better idea of what the new series will be about.
