Thor: Ragnarok Logo

Avant-garde musician Mark Mothersbaugh became an icon of 1980’s rock when he helped found the offbeat band Devo and he has composed original music scores for over 170 films and television shows. He’s long been the go-to music man for directors such as Wes Anderson and the team of Phil Lord and Chris Miller, and now it looks he’ll be bringing his particular brand of quirky, energetic movie melodies to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Mothersbaugh has been hired to provide the score for next year’s Thor: Ragnarok, which is currently filming in Australia under director Taika Waititi (What We Do in the Shadows). Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston, respectively, are returning as the heroic, hammer-wielding God of Thunder and his villainous brother Loki.

Thor: Ragnarok Logo

Cameos are common to see in a Marvel Studios film. Sometimes they appear at the end of a standalone film acting as a bridge to connect to future MCU movie and other times they can be silly cameos like Loki transforming into Captain America just for giggles. But the latest photo from the set of Thor: Ragnarok seems to be a little bit strange, with the emphasis on strange. There appears to be a card of some sort that’s either just a silly nod to Doctor Strange or it has a deeper meaning. What could it be, and what are the contents of this card? Check it out here below.

These set photos, which show Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston, are unique in that they were authorized and were posted by director Hemsworth, director Taika Waititi, and Daley Pearson.

Jane Foster

The character of Jane Foster, played by Natalie Portman, in the Thor films has stayed true to the spirit of the character in the comics. For one thing, she helped give an understanding of how things work on Earth as opposed to Asgard. The character also acted as a love interest which stretched for two films.

But now it seems Marvel isn’t using the character anymore. She is officially out of Thor: Ragnarok, and it sounds an awful lot like she won’t be seen again anytime soon. According to Portman, she believes that she is done. More on the story below.

Thor: Ragnarok Logo

A lot of the times a production on a Marvel film is so busy that they are unable to attend San Diego Comic-Con. This was one of those nights for Thor: Ragnarok.

Directed by Taika Waititi (What We Do In Shadows), the film is expected to shoot until October. But that hasn’t stopped Marvel from sharing some behind the scenes footage plus an early look at the visual effects which reveals a giant villain that could be more menacing than Hulk wearing gladiator armor. Check out a description of the footage below.

Planet Hulk

Things are progressing pretty nicely for Taika Waititi and Thor: Ragnarok. The film recently added Jeff Goldblum as The Grandmaster and Karl Urban as Skurge aka The Executioner. They’re joined on the cast by Cate Blanchett, who plays Hela the Asgardian Goddess of Death, and Tessa Thompson who will play Valkyrie and Thor’s love interest.

Now there are a couple of new rumors surrounding the film. Mark Ruffalo has already said that the film will be a buddy movie that sees the two heroes venturing out on a cosmic journey. How those two get into this precarious situation still isn’t clear. But one rumor is that Thor is searching for a yet to be identified MacGuffin only to get banished to a gladiator-like world where he meets Hulk, who is apparently the reigning champion.

Now there is a new rumor about the new characters that will appear in the final film of the Thor trilogy. More on the story below.
