Darth Vader, Star Wars Rebels

The rumor that Darth Vader would be appearing in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story seemed to have gone under the radar with the reports of 40% of the film being reshot circling it. At the time it was a rumor that made plenty of sense considering how the standalone film centers on a group of rebels who go on a dangerous mission to steal the plans to the Death Star. So far we’ve only seen one teaser trailer that just set the tone, but no Darth Vader in sight. While we can expect to see more footage during Star Wars Celebration, it’s not clear if the Sith Lord will appear in it. But for those who are just anxiously waiting for an answer, you can take a huge sigh of relief.

It’s been confirmed that Darth Vader will be in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, and there may be more to his character than what has been rumored. Hit the jump for the full story.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story(Felicity Jones)Ph: Film Frame©Lucasfilm LFL

There was a growing concern that Rogue One: A Star Wars Story was going to be in major trouble, when news broke that the film was entering reshoots and that 40% of the film would be reshot. The rumor was that Disney execs weren’t too pleased with the first cut of the film. According to those reports, there were issues with its tone and some said it looked more like a war movie than a Star Wars one – despite the film repeatedly being pitched as a ground-war film by director Gareth Edwards and Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy.

Now there is some truth to those rumors. Word is that the film is bringing in screenwriter Tony Gilroy to help polish the script and they are also hiring a new stunt coordinator.

More on the story below.

Matt Damon as Jason Bourne

In an unlikely turn of events, it appears that Matt Damon will be reprising his role as Jason Bourne for the next installment in the Bourne Identity franchise, and director Paul Greengrass will be joining him.

Greengrass directed Damon in the second and third parts of the original Bourne trilogy, 2004’s The Bourne Supremacy and 2007’s The Bourne Ultimatum (Doug Liman directed the original Bourne Identity in 2002). The duo departed the series after the trilogy was complete, opening the door for The Avengers star Jeremy Renner to step into the franchise as Aaron Cross in 2012’s The Bourne Legacy, which was directed by series writer Tony Gilroy.

The Bourne Legacy Header

The Bourne franchise proves that no matter how many movies or entries there are, you will only know less than half of the real story. A new trailer has emerged for The Bourne Legacy, and it gives a clearer picture of the characters surrounding the very people involved in the project that made Bourne the dangerous amnesia spy that he is (or was) today. You can check out the trailer below.

Jeremy Renner takes the main character mantle as he begins to be caught up in the conspiracy involving the people behind the Tredstone project. Renner joins fellow series newcomers Rachel Weisz, Edward Norton, Stacy Keach, and Oscar Isaac, while franchise veterans Albert Finney, Joan Allen, David Strathairn, and Scott Glenn reprise their roles.

The Bourne Legacy

Universal Pictures has released a new poster and teaser trailer for their upcoming super-spy sequel The Bourne Legacy. You can check them both out here below.

The gritty, globe-trotting action franchise inspired by the novels of the late Robert Ludlum seemed to have wrapped up with 2007’s The Bourne Ultimatum, which was star Matt Damon and director Paul Greengrass’ farewell to the series that made them both household names in Hollywood. But never underestimate a studio’s willingness to exploit a viable cash cow for every penny its worth.

Edward Norton In Talks To Join Jeremy Renner & Rachel Weisz In ‘The Bourne Legacy’

We’ve known for a while now that Matt Damon would not be returning for the fourth film in the Bourne series, titled The Bourne Legacy. We’ve also known that two–time Academy Award–nominee Jeremy Renner (The Town, The Hurt Locker) would be replacing Damon as a new character along the same lines as Jason Bourne, but not as Bourne himself.

Since then Rachel Weisz has been cast as the love interest, and now it’s being reported that Edward Norton is in talks to join the cast as well. Norton would be playing the film’s villain, but not much else is known about the character or his villainous ways.

You Won’t Find Jason Bourne Or Matt Damon In Tony Gilroy’s ‘The Bourne Legacy’

A few days ago we found out that Jason Bourne franchise writer Tony Gilroy would be pulling double-duty as both writer and director for the fourth installment in the series, The Bourne Legacy. The looming concern was whether star Matt Damon would be willing to return to his role despite the fact that second and third chapter director Paul Greengrass wasn’t involved.

The answer is apparently no.

After the initial reports of Gilroy’s involvement, the director wanted to make sure some unclear things became very clear, and one of those things was the Damon/Bourne factor. Gilroy explained in detail that this would be the movie we’ve heard about all along, using the Bourne title but at the same time being a completely original story, not adapted from Robert Ludlum‘s novel. Now we know that in this, a brand new hero will be used, not Jason Bourne, and that it will supposedly paint a much bigger picture to the world we’ve seen expand over the course of the first three movies.

Click on over to the other side to read Gilroy’s plan and explanation.

Jason Bourne Finds New Director In Tony Gilroy; May Be Called ‘The Bourne Legacy’

Last December it was reported that director Paul Greengrass would be walking away from the fourth installment in The Bourne Identity franchise. Greengrass captained the second and third movies (Doug Liman directed the original), and was popular with star Matt Damon, who at one time said he wouldn’t come back if the director wasn’t involved.

Despite the exit of Greengrass, Universal has maintained plans for another installment in the series — now tentatively titled The Bourne Legacy — and now they’ve found the director they want to deliver it. And who better then the man who has personally written the screenplays for all three previous films, Tony Gilroy. The writer was hired a while back to pen the script, which was an obvious choice of course, and it only makes sense to have him embrace the role of director as well.

The ‘Red Dawn’ Remake Adds Two More To Its Cast; Tony Gilroy Rewriting Script

Red Dawn

Right around the time that we found out that Australian actor Chris Hemsworth would follow up his short stint in J.J. Abrams’ Star Trek with the possible career-making turn as the title role in the Kenneth Branagh-directed comic book adaptation, Thor (Read: Kenneth Branagh Finds His ‘Thor’ In Chris Hemsworth), we also learned that Hemsworth would be filling the shoes that Patrick Swayze once filled in the Red Dawn remake.

Entertainment Weekly is now reporting that the producers of the new Red Dawn have now cast two more actors to join Hemsworth. Taking on the role that was the very first for Charlie Sheen will be Josh Peck (Mean Creek, The Wackness), and the actress that they’ve cast in the Jennifer Grey role is Adrianne Palicki (Friday Night Lights).

On top of this, some brand new news from Latino Review, who have discovered that Tony Gilroy, the writer/director of Oscar-winning Michael Clayton, as well as writer of the Bourne trilogy, is now rewriting the script for this Red Dawn remake. Usually when a writer is brought in to rewrite an entire movie, it’s not good news; but that logic thrown out the window, Gilroy is a step up, and his talents can only help this project to be better.
