Here’s a nice little freebie to brighten your day.
Yesterday Valve started giving away an updated version of the top down shooter Alien Swarm. It’s a pretty good game. I spent some time with it this morning and it’s very enjoyable. Especially for free! You go around with your team and well, fight alien swarms. There is actually a lot more to it than that. It is definitely a deep game for what it is. On top of just the game, Valve is also giving away the complete base code to the game. I don’t know what I could do with that, but I bet those of you smarter than I am have a good idea. You have to have a steam account to get this game, however I didn’t have one and it was no sweat. Click HERE for the free Alien Swarm.

| Game Review: ‘Bioshock 2’ Xbox 360 |
 |
Bioshock 2
Platform: Xbox 360
Developer: 2K Games
Publisher: 2K Games
Release Date: February 9, 2010
The opening of 2007’s Bioshock is one of the best — if not THE best — introductions to a video game we’ve ever seen. Crashing into the ocean, swimming to a mysterious nearby lighthouse, progressing cautiously as you put yourself into the game and wonder where you are. And then, to have your mini-adventure into the city of Rapture viciously halted by the cruel realization that you are not in a friendly place…it was all just so amazing and unforgettable, and there was still twenty great hours of gameplay to come! The first game was so good that many fans felt that a Bioshock 2 was completely unnecessary, but we were told that one was on the way nevertheless. For me personally, this was fantastic news, and I’ve been excited and anxiously awaiting its arrival. See, when it comes to video games, they’re a platform of entertainment that is perfect for sequels. Yes, a second, third, or fourth game may not be as good as that original, but that doesn’t matter here; games all have to be their own creature. Whether you love or hate Bioshock 2, the original will still always be there to play; but if you love it, then that’s all the more time you get to hang out in that crazy world of Rapture. For me personally, I loved my second visit to the city hidden under the depths of the Atlantic Ocean, and I hope that I get to go there many more times in the future. Click over for more and to see a trailer. Be careful not to drown.

| Bruce Willis Confirmed For ‘Kane & Lynch’; Director & Production Start Date Info Shared |
 |

In a recent interview with GameDaily, Hollywood producer Adrian Askarieh talked video game movies in great detail. On the list, he spoke on big projects like Kane & Lynch: Dead Men, Hitman 2, and Just Cause — all of which have movies in the works. From the very second that a Kane & Lynch movie was announced, superstar Bruce Willis was rumored to be up for one of the starring roles. It’s been a long time since these rumors started swirling, but staying nice and chaos free, Askarieh confirmed in this interview that Willis is indeed attached and confirmed for the movie, and that he will be playing Kane (the one on the left) of the duo. He also confirmed that the movie will be directed by Simon Crane, who is mostly known for his stunt work, but who has also done a lot of Second Unit Directing and Assistant Directing. It will finally begin production in March of 2010, which is still a long ways off, but considering this thing has been coming for years now, it’s good to have an actual date. Lionsgate will be handling the distribution, and Millennium is financing it.

| Producer Talks ‘Hitman 2’ Movie & ‘Hitman 5’ Video Game |
 |

In an interview with GameDaily, producer Adrian Askarieh talked about the Hitman series, including both the movie sequel, Hitman 2, and even more importantly, the extra-long-awaited video game, Hitman 5. As for the movie, it looks like they’re still waiting for a script at the moment, but are hoping to start filming by the middle of next year. The question was asked if star Timothy Olyphant would be returning now that he has a new TV show (Damages) going. Askarieh explained that they would definitely want him back, but it all balances on timing. As we all know, Olyphant would have to go bald as bald can be again in order to return to the role of Agent 47, and as simple as that sounds, it could have a big effect on his show and bring complications to the table. Askarieh was also asked if the rumor that it would involve 47 losing everything and having to get it back was true, to which he replied “That’s a part of it, yes, but that’s all I’m going to say on that.”
