Pictures Show South Korea’s Brutal “Methods” For Curing Video Game-Addicted Children

We’ve all heard of military schools and camps where kids are sent to become more disciplined, but rarely do we see a glimpse of what actually goes on at these establishments.

Now we have some rather disturbing images from one such place in South Korea where kids who fall in with gangs, skip school, and perhaps most difficult to understand, are considered “addicted” to video games are sent to get some hardcore discipline beaten into them until their future plans are of a respectable sort.

You can understand someone who falls in with a gang needing some extreme measures like this to get straight, but when a kid who plays video games is put through what you’ll see in these images? That’s just plain hard to understand. And what’s worse is that it’s the parents who sends them to these places to bear this pain.

You can see some of the images below, and you can find a few more images by clicking over to the source. Be warned: because these involve kids, certain people may find it hard to look at these images.

We see a lot of video games made based on major movie releases and vice versa, and most of these are pretty forgettable.

One of the movies you likely would never ever expect to hear about a video game adaptation for would be Christopher Nolan‘s mind and physics-bending summer blockbuster, Inception. But according to Nolan, it is happening, though probably not for a long while.

While talking to Entertainment Weekly about everything from possible Inception sequels to his new Batman sequel, The Dark Knight Rises, the director confirmed that a game was indeed in the works. Nolan says “I always imagined Inception to be a world where a lot of other stories could take place. At the moment, the only direction we’re channeling that is by developing a video game set in the world.” He also went on to say that while a sequel isn’t out of the question, it’s “not something I’ve given a lot of thought about,” but that video games are “something I’ve wanted to explore.”

Video Game Race

YouTube user Eyspire put together a video, called Ultimate Retro Running Race, of several classic video game characters having a race.

Watch the video here below.

The video clocks in just under 2 minutes, and shows some of our favorite video game characters racing against each other within several gaming scenarios with different gaming landscapes, all set to classic video game music. You’ll recognize Sonic the Hedgehog and Mario, as well as characters from Disney animation and Back To The Future, and many more.

This fan-made video, which Eyspire animated frame by frame, is a segmented portion of a larger satire series he says he’s working on.

Can you pick out all the video game characters in this video?

Back in June we found out that Telltale Games, the company behind popular episodic video games like Tales of Monkey Island and Sam & Max, would be making a couple of new series of games based on the popular worlds of Back to the Future and Jurassic Park (Read: GREAT SCOTT, There’s An Episodic “˜Back To The Future’ Game On The Way!).

The games won’t be sequels but more of a new style of telling the stories we know and love with some new stuff mixed in as well. The first game on the way will be from BTTF this winter, and it will come in conjunction with the year-long celebration of the 25th anniversary of Back to the Future, which we already know will also include a special new trilogy DVD and Blu-ray set.
