| WB Exec Says Don’t Expect To See Wonder Woman In ‘Batman Vs. Superman’
Batman vs. Superman will lay the foundation for the Justice League. Just as its title suggests, Batman will be introduced into the DC Cinematic Universe that Zack Snyder has created. Tiny Easter Eggs were laid throughout the Man of Steel, but could we expect to see a female superhero like Wonder Woman in Batman vs. Superman? One Warner Bros. executive suggests that she won’t appear. After all the troubles of getting a Wonder Woman film off the ground – we all remember how DC treated Joss Whedon’s treatment of the heroine – what could be the problem? Surely it’s not the solo Catwoman movie or Elektra? But a film like Batman vs. Superman would be a great proving ground for getting a solo female superhero movie into production, so why not just do something as simple as introduce Wonder Woman into the film? Hit the jump to find out.

| ‘Justice League: Mortal’: The DC Comics Movie Event Forever Damned To Development Hell |
 |

It’s good to see Warner Bros. and DC Comics finally starting to learn from their past mistakes in bringing their classic comic book superhero stable to the big screen. Outside of Christopher Nolan‘s Batman trilogy their future looked mighty bleak in the wake of the less-than-enthusiastic receptions given to Superman Returns and Green Lantern. Last week the long-in-the-works Man of Steel brought Superman back to the big screen to the tune of a record-smashing $128 million opening weekend despite mixed reviews. Warners/DC had been hedging their bets of Man of Steel being successful enough to begin constructing a long-running cinematic universe of multiple superhero movie franchises to rival Marvel Studios, with the end result being an all-star Justice League team-up film. However, the Justice League movie has proved to be of even greater difficulty to get off the ground than the film adventure of any single DCU character. Gangster Squad scribe Will Beall took a crack at the project last year but his efforts were eventually discarded by the studio in favor of a fresh start overseen by David S. Goyer, the writer and hardcore comic fan who helped make Blade the first lucrative feature franchise out of a Marvel character and also co-wrote Batman Begins and wrote Man of Steel, as part of a three-picture deal that also includes a naturally inevitable Man of Steel sequel.

| ‘Man Of Steel’ Sets Up ‘Justice League’; WB Gears Up For ‘Wonder Woman’, ‘Aquaman’
After confirming that David Goyer would come back to write the screenplay for Man Of Steel 2, and reportedly signed on to write Justice League, Goyer is making the final turn of the press rounds for Man of Steel, which opened in theaters this weekend. While most of us are ready for the return of the famed DC Comics hero, Goyer is slowly preparing for the sequel of the film and giving us small hints about Justice League. The early signing only signals how confident Warner Bros. Studios is in Man of Steel, and because of that, not only are they putting the sequel and the Justice League film on a fast track into production, but they are also getting ready for other solo DC Hero films like Wonder Woman, Aquaman, and more. Hit the jump for more details.

| Happy 75th Birthday, Superman! |
 |

He may not have been the first superhero ever created, but he is by far the greatest and most influential lead character in the history of comics. They call him the Man of Steel, the Last Son of Krypton, and the Big Blue Boy Scout, but to all of us he is Superman, and today he celebrates his 75th birthday. There is a lot I could say about Superman, but it has pretty much already been written and anyone reading this probably knows it all by now. I will keep this brief and to the point because I sincerely doubt the man would want a long-winded tribute. Despite a cover date of June 1938, Superman’s first appearance in Action Comics #1 actually first went on sale on April 18, 1938. The creation of Cleveland natives Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, Superman quickly became the most popular hero at the fledgling National Comics, soon to be known as DC Comics. Over the years he rose from being the star of several best-selling titles at DC to a full fledged national icon at a time when America was battling the Axis Powers all over the world. The success of Action Comics and Superman’s solo title resulted in the creation of other superheros and heroines that would become beloved pop culture fixtures for decades to come, like Batman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, and the Flash to name but a few. Superman’s enduring popularity also inspired other comic book publishers to create their own vast universes of super-powered avengers of justice with varying degrees of success.
