| ‘Wonder Woman’ Will Lasso A Pilot This Fall! |
 |
David E. Kelley shopped a Wonder Woman pitch to the networks late last year only to get the proverbial door slammed in his face over and over again [read: Proposed “˜Wonder Woman’ TV Series Meets More Rejection]. So fans thought, rightfully so, that their dreams of seeing the heroine on the small screen were dashed, but the new NBC Entertainment president Bob Greenblatt has saved the day by picking up Kelley’s script.
Kelley’s upcoming series Harry’s Law and the support of the new President both helped NBC commit to the series and to the steep licensing fee. The series is described as a reinvention of the classic DC Comics comic book with Wonder Woman being a vigilante crime fighter, a successful corporate executive, and modern woman trying to balance all of the elements of her extraordinary life. This is familiar territory for Kelley who has had success in the past writing these modern woman types of stories with previous shows such as Ally McBeal and The Practice.

DC Universe Online
Sony Online Entertainment
PlayStation 3/PC
Price: $59.99 with a $14.99 monthly subscription
Released January 11th, 2011 DC Universe Online is not the first superhero Massively Multiplayer Online RPG to be released, but it is the first to have a major license behind it and it has been widely anticipated by its audience. Thanks to this game, players have the chance to fight alongside some of their favorite characters as well as interact with other fans. The game doesn’t stray too far from the formula perfected by World of Warcraft, which is a good thing, because the setting is really the selling point of the game. Never before have players been able to explore a living, breathing DC universe in this way. However, the game is not without its flaws, and those looking to check it out may want to wait a few weeks while the inevitable bugs are worked out of the system. The story sets up the flavor of the DC universe right from the start. Lex Luthor has traveled from a future in which he has defeated Superman, but met defeat at the hands of Brainiac. He has traveled back in time and released those most precious of plot devices, nanobots, into the atmosphere in order to turn ordinary people (the player) into an army of superheroes that can defeat Braniac. It doesn’t take a masters degree in DC history to keep up, but a lot of the fun of the game is seeing your favorite DC heroes and villains brought to life and fighting beside them. It also helps to know some of the creators behind the books, as many of the locations are named after famous writers, artists, and editors.

| Proposed ‘Wonder Woman’ TV Series Meets More Rejection
This past October we were informed that after many failed attempts to turn Wonder Woman into a popular movie franchise, DC Comics would be teaming up with Warner Brothers TV and top-tier showrunner, David E. Kelley, in hopes of developing a new TV series based on the popular comic book heroine. Sadly, for fans of the superhero who have been itching to see her in some form of modern live-action entertainment, this day will not come any time soon. After writing a spec script for the pilot episode, Kelley and friends set off to make their pitch to the various networks. Fox turned them down, as did ABC, who are owned by Disney, the company that purchased Marvel for $4 billion. You can see where that might be an issue.
