DC ComicsAt their big DC Nation panel WonderCon 2011 this weekend, DC Comics announced an exciting new series called Retro-Active. This series of one-shots will pair some of comics’ greatest writers with some of DC’s greatest heroes to create stories set in classic eras in comics. The stories will all be set during the ’70s, ’80’s, and ’90s eras. The stories will be impacted only by things that have happened previous to the writing, not after. So there will be stories prior to Earth-shattering events such as Crisis on Infinite Earths. Each issue will feature 26 all new story pages and a 20-page reprinted classic story and will sell for $4.99.

See below for a superheroes, the eras the stories are set, and writers.

Adrianne Palicki as Wonder Woman

Earlier this month, the first photo was released of Adrianne Palicki as TV’s new Wonder Woman, but the costume was met with much dislike, with fans stating that it looked like a cheap Halloween costume.

Apparently, the creators of the upcoming Wonder Woman series took the criticism to heart, as new set photos from the show reveal Palicki in a revised costume.

The costume revision is more in line with what we expect Wonder Woman to look like. The original bright blue pleather pants have been replaced with dark blue tights that have gold stars down the side; the equally bright blue boots are now red and the large block heel is gone.

The LA Times’ Hero Complex was able to chat with Warner Brothers president Jeff Robinov recently, and he was able to share the future of their collaboration with DC Comics and what adaptations of their comic book properties are currently on the way.

The most exciting thing for fans, perhaps, is the reaffirmation of a Justice League movie being in the works. The project, which would see DC’s top heroes joining forces on the big screen (to compete with Marvel’s Avengers, which is set to arrive in 2012) has been talked about for a while, but Robinov says they want it to be ready to go for 2013. If all goes well, we would see Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, Flash, Aquaman, and others fighting side-by-side.

The immediate thought that comes to mind when looking at the very first image of Adrianne Palicki in full costume as the title character in NBC’s reboot of the superhero series, Wonder Woman, is that this has to be some kind of joke…right? April Fools’ Day is close, but it’s not here yet, correct?

To be perfectly blunt, this image is pure pain to look at and the endless difficulties had while trying to produce a movie and TV series based on the property make a whole lot more sense now. Think of every Wonder Woman Halloween costume you’ve ever seen, and know that 90% of them are likely better than this.

Be sure to click on over to the other side to see the first official image from NBC’s new Wonder Woman and speak your thoughts freely in the comments below!

In case you haven’t been following the madness of a proposed Wonder Woman anything, allow us to catch you up quickly!

First up came the hopes for a big feature film adaptation with Joss Whedon behind the script. This never worked out in the end. When a movie didn’t work, it was decided to try and make a new Wonder Woman TV series with showrunner David E. Kelley, but soon after that it was revealed that efforts to obtain positive attention on the show from networks was weak and the project was once again dead. Then, out of nowhere, NBC had one of their little urges, and decided to pick up the pilot episode of Wonder Woman for themselves and see where things went.

Now that you’re all caught up, all that’s left is who’s the actress to finally bring Wonder Woman back to the screen? Well, the answer has been revealed, and it’s now up to you to decide whether she’s a good choice or not.
