| ‘GoTG’ Director James Gunn Defends Zendaya Casting In ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’
Spider-Man: Homecoming‘s diverse casting is a reflection of today’s society. Tony Revolori plays Flash Thompson, Laura Harrier will play Liz Allen, and Jacob Batalon will play Ned Leeds. So as you can see, characters traditionally depicted as Caucasian are being played by minorities, and when those characters were confirmed, there didn’t seem to be any uproar. But when it was announced that Zendaya would be playing Mary Jane Watson, not Michelle, there was an outrage. Unsurprisingly, many came to the defense of the casting decision, most notably James Gunn, the director of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, who has been be quite vocal about controversial topics like these. Check out what he had to say here below.

| ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ Characters Flash Thompson, Liz Allen, Ned Leeds Confirmed |

This past weekend, Marvel Studios hd something extra special to show their fans at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con. Aside from Black Panther, Thor: Ragnarok, and Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2, the cast of Spider-Man: Homecoming made a very brief appearance to show Hall H attendees from exclusive footage (see our description of what was shown). Now, it’s very unlikely who were not in attendance will get to see this footage any time soon, but they’ll be able to get the entire film next year. Here’s what we do know so far about the characters in director Jon Watts‘ Spider-Man film: Tom Holland is Peter Parker/Spider-Man, Zendaya plays Michelle, and the film will have a John Hughes vibe. But as for Tony Revolori, Jacob Batalon, and Laura Harrier, their characters have remained under wraps… until now. | Michael Keaton Re-Enters Talks To Star In ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’
Just a few weeks ago it looked like Sony and director Jon Watts were going to have to find a new actor to play the villain in Spider-Man: Homecoming. Academy Award winner Michael Keaton was the frontrunner for the role, as reports spread about his possible casting. However, the actor seemingly dropped out of the running. However, it seems as though the thought of being in a Spider-Man movie that is now a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe could not escape the actor, as he is now back in talks to star in the same role. There are also reports that there will be more than just one villain in the film. Find out more here below.

| Zendaya and Maika Monroe In The Running For ‘Alita: Battle Angel’ Lead Role
Alita: Battle Angel has been one of James Cameron‘s long-gestating projects. The adaptation has taken somewhat of a backseat with Cameron focusing on his Avatar sequels. Despite the filmmaker declaring that the film would have to be pried out of his cold dead hands, it has been given to Robert Rodriguez – much to Cameron’s approval. With Rodriguez in the driver’s seat, the film can proceed that much closer to production, and it seems as they are close to finding an actress to play the lead role. According to new reports, Maika Monroe, Zendaya, Rosa Salazar, and Bella Thorne are the new frontrunners for the title role. More on the story below.
