Make This Happen! Tilda Swinton Says She Would Gladly Play Conan O’Brien

Now that all of that NBC drama with Conan O’Brien, Jay Leno, and The Tonight Show is finally over, everyone can begin to move on. This doesn’t mean that fun can’t still be had, and what better way to keep Conan around for as long as possible than allowing bits of his show to spill over into real life? Over his many years at NBC, Conan has compared his own physical appearance to other people and things…typically women such as President of Finland Tarja Halonen and distinguished Academy Award-winning actress Tilda Swinton. In fact, O’Brien ended his show with a little note that if HBO ever decides to make a movie based on his life, he’d want Swinton to play him. While promoting her new movie I Am Love at the Sundance Film Festival, Movieline got right on this and made sure to ask the actress if she would take on this career-making role, to which she playfully accepted with glee. Continue reading on to see exactly what Swinton had to say.

Doom Deliveries: Satan Sends Candy… & VHS Copy Of ‘The House Of The Devil’
Satan sent us candy!
Yup, you heard right. And not just any candy, 80’s candy, in our latest installment of Doom Deliveries! One day, an ominous package was left at the doorstep of Geeks of Doom headquarters. At first, it was unclear what the contents were, but the words “Satan” and “Devil” and “Big League Chew” were all over the items. What in hell is this demonic package? Turns out, it was DVD, Blu-ray, and VHS — yes, VHS — copies of The House Of The Devil, the new “satanic panic” retro horror film, getting its home release on February 2, 2010. Along with the multiple formats for the movie, there was a pack of buttons — one of which read “Satan Sucks” — and an 80’s grab bag of candy, including the aforementioned Big League Chew as well as Nerds, Pop Rocks, Whistle Pops, and much more. The back of the worn-looking clamshell-housed VHS cassette was the warning: CAUTION: This film contains satanic references and graphic violence. HA HA HA HA! GoD staffer CrueChik was hanging out at the headquarters, going through the package, so check out the brief video here below of her opening up its contents.

Surrogates
Blu-ray Edition
Directed by Jonathan Mostow
Starring Bruce Willis, Radha Mitchell, James Cromwell, Ving Rhames, Rosamund Pike
Disney Pictures Home Entertainment
Release date: January 26, 2010
Stick a movie in front of me that features Bruce Willis as a member of Law Enforcement and so help me I’ll watch it. From Die Hard to, um, Live Free Or Die Hard — via The Last Boy Scout and Sin City, among many others — Willis has defined the straight-talking no-nonsense no-shaving vest-wearing law-ignoring cop. Surrogates is the latest Willis movie to hit DVD/Blu-ray — a sci-fi action thriller based on the graphic novel of the same name — and this time he’s a robocop. In the not-too-distant future most of the world’s population rarely venture outside their own homes. Instead they spend their lives as operators, connected to their stem chairs seeing life through robot surrogates. Thanks to a Supreme Court ruling more than 10 years ago, over 98% of the population use surrogates in daily life; they go to work, they do the shopping. Thanks to this statistic, crime in the U.S. is down 99% and all other bad things like racism and sexism have seen a huge decline. Surrogates were initially developed to help disabled people, used only in a medical context. Then costs came down and eventually these robots became affordable to regular people and private use of surrogates became popular. Surrogates are you, but much better in every way: flawless skin, perfect hair, they cannot be hurt, and should they be destroyed, you can just buy a new one. This is a world populated by only beautiful people. This is life”¦ only better.

‘Ghostbusters 3’ To Use 3D; ‘Gremlins 3’ To Follow Suit?

The folks over at MarketSaw have been quite busy as of late. Not one but two of their tippy-top inside sources have chirped some information about Ghostbusters 3 and Gremlins 3 both wanting to join the “cool kids” of this 3D epidemic. When it comes to Ghostbuster 3, we’ve heard over and over that it was indeed being made and that the whole cast would be returning. We still have zero solid proof of any of this, but because we’ve heard it so often, it has evolved to semi-fact. A source from none other than George Lucas‘s Industrial Light & Magic has apparently whispered that the project is still moving full-steam ahead and that they’re also looking to shoot it in 3D. This is of course no shocking revelation; almost all movies these days are either developed around the technology or given the multi-dimensional makeover after-the-fact. If they are going to make another Ghostbusters, they might as well use this popular format to ensure a nice box office run.

Wizard World Atlanta Take Two
Wizard Entertainment announced Atlanta as the ninth location for their Wizard World Comic Conventions with no date attached as of this report.
The “TBD” status is enough to send a chill up the spine of smaller comic and entertainment convention promoters who remember the fervor that swept over the industry during Wizard’s first attempt at an Atlanta show in 2006. The company scheduled their event for the same date as the Charlotte, NC Hero Con — a move that caused guests to take sides and eventually derail the show completely. That was over four years ago and Wizard hasn’t been back, until now. This time, however, their actions suggest trying to avoid conflict by purchasing one (of four) of the 16-year-old Atlanta Comic Convention events from veteran show promoter Wes Tillander. As for any overlap, there would be concerns when it comes to the smaller niche Cons held in the city but the long-standing Dragon*Con is likely to be a safe haven if not only for the major hotels all being booked well in advance for the 2010 Labor Day weekend show.
