HBO has officially announced start dates for season five of True Blood, as well as a new series titled The Newsroom.

The fifth season of the ultra-popular vampire horror-fantasy series will debut on Sunday, June 10 at 9:00 p.m. (ET/PT).

The show, set mainly in the fictional town of Bon Temps, Louisiana, follows a waitress named Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin) with peculiar abilities whose seemingly normal life is abruptly overtaken by vampires, werewolves, shapeshifters, witches, and other fantastical beings…not to mention all of the dangers that come with them.

It is based on author Charlaine Harris‘s “Southern Vampire Mysteries” book series (also known as the “Sookie Stackhouse Novels”), and is created by Oscar winner Alan Ball (American Beauty).

HBO’s newest series, The Newsroom, will premiere on Sunday, June 24 at 10:00 p.m. (ET/PT).

The show follows a cable news anchor (played by Jeff Daniels), his new executive producer (Emily Mortimer), his newsroom staff (Alison Pill, Dev Patel, Olivia Munn, John Gallagher, Jr., Thomas Sadoski), and their boss (Sam Waterston) as they set out to deliver the news while dealing with numerous corporate, commercial, and personal obstacles.
