Now that we know that Peter Capaldi Is The Next Doctor On Doctor Who, it’s time to get more acquainted with the actor. The 55-year-old Scottish actor and film director has been in over 40 films and television shows throughout his career, including an appearance in the 2008 episode of Doctor Who, “The Fires Of Pompeii,” as well as a role in Torchwood: Children of Earth, a spin-off of Doctor Who. In this summer’s World War Z, Capaldi played a World Health Organization doctor, but in a bit of foreshadowing, his role is listed solely as “WHO Doctor”!
From 2005 – 2012, the actor starred in The Thick of It, a British TV comedy series where he played Malcolm Tucker, director of communications for the British government. In the show, Tucker is a spindoctor as well as an enforcer of the party line who is feared and disliked because of his aggressive, hurtful, and sometimes violent tactics. Basically, he’s not very likable.
In the second episode of series four, Tucker can’t recall the name of Star Wars and with obvious disdain for the movie, he tries to describe it. Watch the clip here below.
Also included below is the first episode of The Thick of It.
