While not exactly what one would consider to be “news,” there’s a bit of an update if you’re one of the many who is currently wondering whether the upcoming Deadpool movie will be rated R or PG-13.
Speaking on the Twitter, Rhett Reese, who was hired along with his Zombieland co-writer Paul Wernick to work on Deadpool back in 2010, says that a decision has not yet been made on what the studio wants the finished movie to be rated.

This of course indicates that lots and lots of fans have been asking curiously (and likely a bit nervously) what the movie will be rated since it went from a rumor to having an official release date recently.
Back in July some R-rated test footage surfaced online of Ryan Reynolds, who played the character in 2009’s X-Men Origins: Wolverine and has been attached to the role ever since, in full Merc mode. And while the test footage clearly wasn’t enough to convince Fox, who currently holds the rights to the Marvel character, to take a chance and make the movie back then, overwhelmingly positive reaction to the footage helped jumpstart the slow-moving project.
So the question goes to you the die-hard Deadpool fans: would you be able to accept a PG-13 rating, or is this an R-rated-or-bust situation?
It has to be an R. PG-13 would not work for Deadpool, he is a violent crazy man and must be portrayed as such.
