It has finally arrived. After months of shooting, and even more months of anxiously awaiting the official title, the first teaser trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens has finally arrived. In this 88-second trailer not only are we learning more about the film, but our anticipation has just gone up more than a few notches.

We still don’t know the full plot, but what we do know is that the film will take place years after the events of Return of the Jedi, and will see the return of Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, Han Solo, Chewbacca, C-3PO, and R2-D2. They will all be joined by new characters played by John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Lupita Nyong’o, Gwendoline Christie, Crystal Clarke, Pip Andersen, Domhnall Gleeson, and Max von Sydow.

So Boyega is a stormtrooper? What about the other stormtroopers. And that lightsaber with the hilt? Who is behind that hood? Good thing there are no lens flares in this trailer.

As previously mentioned, there is no plot description attached to the trailers. But the Empire is back, their is a dark force at play with a bigger and badder lightsaber, and we get a tiny glimpse of the practical effects that will be used.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens will hit theaters on December 18, 2015.
