Elodie Yung, best known in the U.S. for her roles of Jinx in GI Joe: Retaliation and Miriam Wu in The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, has been cast as Elektra for Marvel’s Daredevil Season 2 on Netflix. She will join Jon Bernthal (The Walking Dead), who has already signed on to play Frank Castle/Punisher.

Played by Jennifer Garner in the movie of the same name, and then in the solo film Elektra, fans of the series have been waiting for Elektra’s appearance since Daredevil Season 1 when she was vaguely mentioned by Foggy (Elden Henson) as a “smokin” Greek girl from Matt’s (Charlie Cox) past.

Here’s Elodie Yung from May 2015:

Marvel’s description:

Yung will play Elektra, a mysterious woman from Matt Murdock’s past whose dangerous and exotic ways may be more than he can handle.

Executive Producer and Head of Marvel Television, Jeph Loeb said:

“After a worldwide search, we found in Elodie the perfect actress to embody both Elektra’s impressive and deadly physicality, as well as her psychological complexity. Paired with Charlie as Matt Murdock, the two will bring one of the most beloved and tumultuous comic book relationships to life with all the accompanying sparks and spectacular action sequences the show is known for.”

Daredevil returns to Netflix in April 2016. Season 1 is currently streaming. Catch up before next Spring!

Daredevil synopsis:

The first in a planned series of shows detailing the Marvel universe, “Daredevil” follows Matt Murdock, attorney by day and vigilante by night. Blinded in an accident as a child, Murdock uses his heightened senses as Daredevil, fighting crime on the streets of New York after the sun goes down. His efforts are not welcomed by powerful businessman Wilson Fisk — aka Kingpin — and others whose interests collide with those of Daredevil. Though Murdock’s day job portrays a man who believes in the criminal justice system, his alter ego suggests otherwise, as he takes the law into his own hands to protect his Hell’s Kitchen neighborhood and the surrounding communities.
