Into The Badlands, AMC’s new martial arts drama, unveiled their brand new trailer at San Diego Comic-Con, and although an exact date has not yet been revealed, we do know that the 6-episode 1st season will air this November.
Watch the trailer and the fight camp training video below.
The panel had creators Alfred Gough and Miles Millar, director David Dobkin, executive producer Stephen Fung, and cast members Daniel Wu, Marton Csokas, Emily Beecham, Aramis Knight, and Orla Brady.
“Six episodes is a good amount,” said Gough today at the panel of AMC’s initial order of the show.”It’s like a super pilot,” he added. With Smallville alum on stage with him, Wu said he hoped that Into The Badlands would have the effect of kicking off a new round of the kung fu genre like the young Superman show helped do.
We already know that AMC is not shy when it comes to death scenes, and the trailer shows some of the brutal deaths in store. “From the producers of Pulp Fiction and Django Unchained, and the creator of Smallville” flashes across the screen, and it could really stop there, because I already want to watch. Then they show some fight scenes…
The second video shows how the cast trained for the fight scenes. The martial arts coordinator is Master Dee Dee, who has worked on Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, The Matrix, Kill Bill: Vol 1 & 2, and Once Upon A Time in China, a veritable “dictionary of Kung Fu.”
I will be watching this. Will you?
Into the Badlands is a genre-bending martial arts series very loosely based on the classic Chinese tale Journey to the West. In a land controlled by feudal barons, Into the Badlands tells the story of a great warrior and a young boy who embark on a journey across a dangerous land to find enlightenment.
Be sure to keep it here at Geeks Of Doom all week for our on-site coverage of SDCC 2015.
