Deadwood actor, Ian McShane is coming home to HBO! He has been officially cast in Season 6 of Game Of Thrones. Who he will be, is as yet unknown. But it seems a good fit. He already looks like he lives in one of the Seven Kingdoms, although I do feel he would be more at home in the North. Who knows? Maybe he is in the Bran and Hodor storyline, when they return in season 6. We really don’t know much about season 6 yet, but we will give it as we get it. Tune in right here.
More on that and an 8th season below.
McShane spent three seasons on Deadwood as Al Swearengen, based on a real life brutal pimp who ran a brothel in the late 1800s in Deadwood, South Dakota. He won a Golden Globe for the role, the same year he was nominated for an Emmy. Other roles include Blackbeard in Pirates of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, and Captain Hook in Shrek the Third.
And the good news keeps on coming! Although the original buzz has always been that Game of Thrones would last 7 seasons (never confirmed, but still a respectable length of time for a television series), HBO’s Michael Lombardo said at the TCA press tour of the series length:
“Seven-seasons-and-out has never been the [internal] conversationThe question is: How much beyond seven are we going to do? Obviously we’re shooting six now, hopefully discussing seven. [Showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss are] feel like there’s two more years after six. I would always love for them to change their minds, but that’s what we’re looking at right now.”

Now, can we get some news about Jon Snow (Kit Harington)? We know nothing.
Game of Thrones returns for a 10-episode season 6 in 2016 on HBO.
