Last week we saw the best episode of The Flash ever, as our gang traveled to Earth-2, and we were as excited as Barry and Cisco (Grant Gustin and Carlos Valdes). There were so many little sights and clues that really brought this great series to the next level – Supergirl and the old Flash (John Wesley Shipp) whizzing by in the breach, Snart as mayor, Deadshot as a cop with horrible aim, and Earth-2 Joe (Jesse L. Martin) as a lounge singer, hating on Barry-2 for marrying his daughter. Barry steals his doppelganger in order to “be” him – Barry-2 is a super lab tech geek working for Detective West… Detective Iris West (Candice Patton). Caitlin and Ronnie (Danielle Panabaker and Robbie Amell) are in love on this earth too (2!), except they are villains Killer Frost and Death Storm working for Zoom, along with Reverb, Cisco’s smooth doppelganger. My Cisco is so much cooler though. Somehow, they escape unscathed (not Joe-2, Deathstorm, or Reverb), but Zoom steals Barry. I thought last week that the helmet guy knocking on the cage was Diggle-2, but I think I changed my mind. I’m not sure who he is.

Spoilers below.

The Flash 2.14 “Escape from Earth-2” review: Zoom is going crazy searching for Wells all over town. There was even a “Bring Me Wells” spelled out in fire across a building. He wants to capture Wells then kill Jesse in front of him. I did not understand why Zoom looked everywhere else first, before S.T.A.R. Labs, other than to fit into the story. Barry-2 finally wakes up and totally freaks at the info, despite the fact that Cisco tells the story in the cutest most Cisco way possible.

Back on Earth-1, Geomancer is still making earthquakes, trying to goad Jay (Teddy Sears) into confronting him. He’s just going to keep making them guy. You may as well face him. Caitlin makes Velocity-9 to give him temporary speed. And since Iris has a new strict boss who wants a story about this second Flash, she asks him for an interview since he’s not doing anything anyway (except trying drugs for speed). Plus it’s not like there is another crisis at hand (her friends and family went to another portal with no guarantee of return). Jay managed to save the day and then “take a nap.” I was totally convinced that he was Zoom. I was literally trying to find the continuity. Silly me. The girls managed to defeat Geomancer, then Jay showed up. I don’t know. I don’t think he’s Zoom, but there’s something…

Barry-2 is really smart and makes algorithms that can locate metas. I do think the nerdy part was a bit overdone. I know it was supposed to be totally opposite, but I don’t feel like Iris-2 would love a guy that is kinda cowardly.

Meanwhile, Barry-1 and Jessy team up to figure out what helmet guy is saying. Barry’s super brain figured out it was a 5×5 POW code, and Jesse finds some convenient chalk to write down the clues. They spell Jay and the helmet guy disagrees with their assertion that Jay is on Earth-1 and safe.

Okay, I am back to thinking Jay on Earth-1 is fake Jay and the real Jay is in that cage. That would be the ultimate con.

Zoom passed by for a quick ominous threat and to beat the crap out of Barry. Barry realizes he has to phase, but it’s not working.

Cisco line of the episode: “It’s a work-in-progress Elsa.”

Barry-2 line of the episode: “Her name starts with Killer. This comes as a shock to you?!?” Good one, Barry-2!

Squeal moment: Cisco deems the ascension cliffs the “cliffs of insanity.” (Remember kids – “Never go in against a Sicilian when death is on the line!”)

Barry’s meta locator works and they track down Killer Frost. Barry-1 tells them all to go – he can’t phase through it. Barry-2 gives Barry-1 a pep talk on doing the impossible, and he is able to phase through. Zoom shows up. Killer Frost double-crossed them. Or did she?

Killer Frost comes through in a pinch, even letting them all escape. I don’t know how she will get out of this one. Cisco can make anyone want to be a better meta. Killer knew it too. She was the ultimate hero this episode and I loved it.

And oh my god! That last bit at the end! We’ll talk.

Barry vows to come back for mystery guy. Who is he? The real Jay? Eobard Thawne? Old Barry? I have no idea.

Good episode. Last week’s was the one to beat, but this one held its own.

The Flash airs Tuesday nights at 8pm ET on The CW.
