Marvel Studios will most likely release some sort of teaser for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 during the Super Bowl this weekend. But as we wait, we can take a look at a handful of new images from the film.

With only one trailer so far, it’s hard to put these images into context, especially since it looks like some of them are from the first trailer. But there are a few that look new, and even some that appeared during SDCC. Check out the new images below.

USA Today was the first to release these images, one of which sees Baby Groot (Vin Diesel) sitting on Yondu’s (Michael Rooker) shoulder. In the same image, we see a group of Ravagers falling, as Yondu, Baby Groot, and Rocket do a cool slow motion walk. Also seen in other images are Drax (Dave Bautista) and Mantis (Pom Klementieff), Gamora (Zoe Saldana), and Star-Lord (Chris Pratt) shooting at an enemy. There is also a behind-the-scenes photo of director James Gunn and Pratt.

Still no sight of Kurt Russell as Ego The Living Planet, Karen Gillan as Nebula, or Elizabeth Debicki as Ayesha. Although I’m sure we will get to see them in a future trailer. Based on what we saw during SDCC, I’m sure it will be well worth the wait. Take my word for it. The film is already one of the most anticipated of 2017, so Gunn and the marketing team may be doing the right thing by holding off on a trailer release until the right moment.

Gunn credits taking risks and doing the unexpected for the first film’s success:

“The first movie was successful because we took chances and gave people the unexpected. This movie can only really be what it is, Guardians can only be what they are, if they’re taking a risk. It means giving them a much different movie.”

Saldana says the first Guardians opened the door for studios to release films like Deadpool and Suicide Squad:

“It’s given permission to so many other filmmakers to let these action movies not only have a little more heart and soul but to have a little more entertainment besides just, “˜CRASH! BOOM! BANG! BLARGH!’ It makes me really happy.”

While we still don’t know much about the actual film, there is an official, but very brief, plot synopsis:

Set to the all-new sonic backdrop of Awesome Mixtape #2, “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2″ continues the team’s adventures as they unravel the mystery of Peter Quill’s true parentage.

You can see the full gallery of images over at USA Today. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 opens in theaters on May 5, 2017.
